Raytheon is currently seeking a Principal Electrical & Electronics (E&E) Engineer- Sensor Test Development to join the Sensor Test Solutions (STS) Department. This is an excellent position for engineers with a background in electrical design and software programming/automation, along with a desire to apply those skills to developing, building, and integrating advanced test platforms and architectures.

As the Principal Electrical & Electronics (E&E) Engineer- Sensor Test Development, you will be joining a project team responsible for the development of test solutions and architectures for various programs within Raytheon. Typical test development applications include analog/digital, RF, High Power, and embedded software/firmware design activities. Test architecture includes a blend of customized and COTS Automatic Test Equipment (ATE), along with custom electro-mechanical holding fixtures and associated interface cabling and harnessing.

In this role, you will also have exposure to the full lifecycle development process - from the requirements definition phase of the test solution design process through the verification and final system sell-off in a production facility or field/depot environment. This role is 100% ONSITE in Tewksbury, MA.

What You Will Do

  • You will work with internal and external partners on the design and deployment of complex factory test systems
  • You will lead development of test hardware, software, and/or firmware through its development cycle, from requirements definition through deployment at manufacturing or customer facilities. These test capabilities may span disciplines (Power, RF, Analog, Digital) and domains (hardware, software, firmware)
  • You will work with Prime Engineering, Production, and Operations teams early in development cycle to identify capability and capacity needs for manufacturing test and ensure smooth deployment to manufacturing facilities
  • You will actively identify test readiness issues and optimizations through the development lifecycle
  • You will lead medium-to-large sized teams to meet project budget, schedule, and performance commitments
  • You will provide technical leadership to employees in support of their specific work assignments
  • You will engage in personal technical growth and encourage technical growth in peers and junior engineers through mentoring activities
  • You will prepare and clearly present project status to functional and program leadership
  • You will understand and report financial & earned value status for monthly reporting cycle
  • You will proactively manage and mitigate Risks and Opportunities
  • You will support Manufacturing operations, including on-site troubleshooting and debugging, both independently and in collaboration with design engineering teams
  • You will contribute to cost, schedule, and technical solutions for bid and proposal development

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with Electrical, Software, Hardware, Mechanical, and/or Multi-Discipline Engineering
  • Experience in an engineering design and development environment with direct experience with Test Equipment design and development tasks
  • Experience leading technical teams and/or projects
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with project management tools such as MS Project, Jira/Confluence, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking software
  • Experience with decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with National Instruments’ TestStand, LabWindows/CVI, and/or LabVIEW
  • Digital, and/or Analog, and/or RF, and/or power supply test hardware design experience
  • Experience with routine use and/or automation of commercial test and measurement equipment, i.e. Oscilloscopes, DMMs, network analyzers, power supplies, etc.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
