 About the Role:

The Pressman Level 3 & 4 plays a critical role in the non-durable goods manufacturing process by operating and maintaining printing presses to ensure high-quality production output. This position requires a deep understanding of press mechanics, ink application, and material handling to produce consistent and defect-free printed materials. The role involves troubleshooting mechanical issues, adjusting press settings, and collaborating with quality control teams to meet production standards and deadlines. The Pressman is responsible for maintaining safety protocols and ensuring compliance with operational guidelines to minimize downtime and waste. Ultimately, this position contributes directly to the efficiency and success of the manufacturing line by delivering precise and timely printed products.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience operating printing presses in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven ability to set up and adjust multi-color printing presses.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and experience performing routine equipment maintenance.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and procedures related to press operation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in press operation or related technical training.
  • Experience with digital and flexographic printing technologies.
  • Knowledge of color theory and ink chemistry.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and job orders.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced non-durable goods manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and monitor printing presses according to job specifications and production schedules.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on press equipment to ensure optimal performance.
  • Adjust press settings such as ink flow, pressure, and speed to achieve desired print quality.
  • Inspect printed materials for defects and make necessary corrections to maintain quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production supervisors and quality control personnel to resolve issues and improve processes.
  • Maintain accurate production records and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards immediately.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies during press operation.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Pressman to efficiently set up and operate complex printing presses, ensuring that production runs smoothly and meets quality expectations. Mechanical aptitude is essential for performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting issues to minimize downtime. Attention to detail and quality control skills are used daily to inspect printed materials and make precise adjustments to press settings. Communication and teamwork skills facilitate collaboration with supervisors and quality teams to address production challenges and implement improvements. Preferred skills such as knowledge of digital printing and color theory enhance the Pressman's ability to handle diverse printing jobs and contribute to process innovation.
