About the Role

Join a trusted Michigan manufacturer producing precision metal mesh filters used in industrial and commercial applications, since 1943!

As aPress Setup/Operator, you’ll set up and operate kick presses, punch presses, and other metal forming equipment to keep production running efficiently and safely.

This position is ideal for someone with a mechanical mindset and experience or interest in metal stamping, manufacturing, or press operation. What You’ll Do

  • Set up and operate manual and semi-automatic presses as directed by the Department Leader or Setup Technician

  • Verify all safety devices are installed and in working order

  • Perform first-piece inspection and buyoff to confirm product quality

  • Continuously improve and reduce machine setup time

  • Organize setup tools, dies, and arbors for efficiency

  • React quickly to quality or equipment issues

  • Operate metal cutting and forming machinery (kick presses, convoluters, dial presses, chandlers)

  • Read shop packets and blueprints to confirm specifications and production requirements

  • Measure parts using micrometers, calipers, and go/no-go gauges

  • Maintain accurate counts of good and scrap parts

  • Keep work area clean, safe, and well-organized

  • Assist with production and secondary operations when setups are not required

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1–3 months of related experience in manufacturing, production, or machine operation (preferred)

  • Ability to read blueprints and follow work instructions

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills

  • Basic math and measurement abilities

  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and remain seated for extended periods

  • Team-oriented attitude and commitment to quality work

Physical & Work Environment

  • Frequent lifting up to 25–30 lbs

  • Regular exposure to machine oils, heat, and moving mechanical parts

  • Work may involve sitting, bending, or standing during operation

  • Requires close and peripheral vision for small-part inspection

  • Moderate to loud noise typical of a production manufacturing environment
