Summary:
The Press Operator II maintains and applies skills from previous levels. Responsibilities include reviewing imposition sheets for roll position, color, and black ink needs, handling plate running, and operating web paths, angle bar, and slitter positions. This role also operates the control console to set ink, water balance, and registration, troubleshoots, and participates in press setup and cleanup.
What you will do:
Review and understand imposition sheets for roll position and ink needs
Plate running for identification and spotting to facilitate press lockup
Operate web paths, applying best practices during setup and web break recovery
Application of plate lockup and removal, angle bar, and slitter position
Operate the control console to set ink, water balance, and registration
Develop troubleshooting skills and advance knowledge within the organization
Participate in press cleanup and complete setup
Train for and obtain a Forklift Certification
What you will bring:
Apply the skills acquired as a Press Operator I, or equivalent experience
Capable of working independently and as part of a team
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
General understanding of the entire newspaper production process
Attention to detail and ability to identify quality defects
Ability to read and interpret work orders and technical specifications
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly range is $22.00 - $24.00 + one time sign on bonus.
