Job Overview:

Job Summary:  

Associates engaged in Converting operations who are able to run an established commercialized product where the processes are defined.  

 

Essential Functions:

  • Performs a variety of production tasks, which include but are not limited to – setting up equipment for established commercialized processes, adjusting and operating equipment, observing for proper functioning of equipment, inspecting and testing products, packaging and rewinding.
  • Safe and proper loading and unloading of tooling into machinery.
  • Accurately performs work assignments and computer transactions that are required to adjust inventory accurately.
  • Must understand units of measure in imperial and metric units and used digital calipers or vision tools that are already established for the process.  Must understand and show competency in mm and inches at the mil or micron scale.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform proper packaging of finished product per the batch record. 
  • Performs visual inspection of all materials used and question everything outside of established norms.
  • Performs periodic preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Maintains workflow and ensures use of proper materials and tools.
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment; notifying lead operator and/or supervisor of unsafe practices, conditions, or acts.
  • Achieves quality and throughput goals.
  • Performs work according to SPARs, WIs, and verbal instructions; seeks lead operator and/or supervisor assistance in resolving problems which are not covered by procedures.
  • Effectively communicates with other associates, lead operators, supervisors while maintaining the self-confidence and self-esteem of others; relays information to the next shift; voluntarily assists other associates, and communicates effectively to prevent problems from occurring.
  • Completes required verifications and paperwork/documentation, accurately and neatly.
  • Participates in training and assists with training, where applicable.
  • Responsible for following all relevant regulations (e.g. ISO, FDA, OSHA, EPA, DEP, etc.) and company procedures.
  • Responsible for following all applicable waste handling procedures.

Job Specifications:

  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent, and previous production experience is highly desirable (preferably in web handling, such as paper or fabric manufacturing, printing, coating or a machinist). 
  • Uses procedures and skills, which require considerable training, to carrying out assignments.
  • Operators work per instructions (verbal and written) and consults with lead operator and/or supervisor as needed on matters not specifically covered by instructions; work is cross-checked to review for accuracy, adequacy, and adherence to instructions.
  • Conforms to Company policies and procedures, Quality Systems, etc.
  • Work environment involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, and irritant chemicals; may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, uniforms, hairnets, gloves, safety glasses/goggles, shields, etc.
  • Physical exertion such as long periods of standing, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities should be expected;  recurring lifting of moderately heavy items (objects 50-100 pounds with lift assist);   requires common physical characteristics and abilities, such as above-average agility and dexterity.
  • The work involves the execution of procedures which make up a finished product of a broader scope; the component product affects the accuracy, reliability, or acceptability of further processing.
