Your Role on Our Team
The Forge Press Operator I supports production by assisting in setting up, adjusting, and troubleshooting presses along with heating, sawing, and trimming equipment to forge a variety of parts. This position is responsible for coordinating and cooperating with other operators as necessary in order to maintain a safe and productive environment.
You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
Follow and promote all safety policies and proactively identify potential safety issues, and practice 6S standards to maintain a safe and clean working environment for all employees.
Identify and assist in leading corrective action for potential safety risks on the floor.
Assist in set-up, adjustment, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance on all production equipment in the forging department.
Support 1st piece inspection prior to release for production.
Identify and report potential risks (safety or production) to ensure proper operation and minimal interruptions to scheduling.
Maintaining the order and cleanliness of equipment, storage areas and the Forge Shop as a whole.
Maintain temperature of dies prior to and during all operational periods. Preheat dies as prescribed.
Use induction heating unit to obtain heated pieces for forging. May be manual load or automated feed. Check induction heating unit during operation sequence for proper heat and operation.
Close attentiveness to details concerning material conditions, lubrication of dies and personal safety must be maintained during short forging cycle.
Frequently check forged parts for form, finish, dimensional accuracy and forging defects.
Check that all cutting fluids, coolants and lubricants are at the proper level at the start of every shift.
Disposition all unused raw materials at the end of each shift and make sure they are stored in the appropriate place.
Other duties and projects as determined by production and business needs.
The TOOLS you'll bring with you:
Experience in forging operations preferred (Presses, Hammers, or up-setters).
Established ability to identify and communicate issues and offer proposed solutions.
Excellent attention to detail is required.
Ability to manage interruptions in a professional and respectful manner is essential.
Above basic math skills and reasoning ability.
Required to wear steel toe shoes
