Summary:

The Southern California News Group (SCNG) is looking for a Press Operator to join the team. We will train you; no prior printing press experience is required!

In this role, you will learn Reelroom Operations and fundamental tasks such as Runsheet Comprehension and Roll Identification. Your responsibilities will include identifying and preparing rolls for the press, general housekeeping, press cleanup, and tool maintenance. You will also be introduced to setting ink, plating, and webbing the press.

This is a fully onsite, night shift role in Riverside, CA

What you will do:

• Focus on loading large paper rolls into newspaper printing presses and discarding spent rolls

• Conduct thorough roll inspections, identifying any damage and preparing rolls for use by applying double-sided tape and constructing Running Paster Patterns

• Become proficient in reel operation through hands-on training and consistent practice

• Adhere to safety procedures at all times, maintaining a safe and organized work area throughout your shift, including sweeping, mopping, and managing oil and debris

• Actively participate in press setup and cleanup, providing guidance and support to colleagues as needed

• Communicate effectively with team members and management regarding work processes and any issues that arise

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of the web path and demonstrate proficiency in running the press

What you will bring:

• Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to understand and work with machinery and equipment

• Must be willing to work the night shift, weekends and holidays

• Ability to stand, bend, climb, reach and kneel repeatedly during a 8 hour shift

• Strong verbal, and written communication skills

• Specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Benefits and Compensation:

The hourly range is $18.00 - $23.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
