SMC Metal is looking for a full-time Fabrication Technician to join our 1st Shift team.  We are looking for Press Brake operators and fabricators with experience working with  Turrets, Lasers, EMLKs, Pems, Spot and/or Robotic Welders.  Your proven skills mean more $$ per hour with our Skill-Based Pay program. Earn as you learn new equipment and build your skills. 

Don't have experience? NO PROBLEM!  We offer PAID, on-the-job training on our 1st Shift. With our Skill-Based Pay program, you will receive additional compensation for every skill that you complete. (Starting pay for inexperienced fabricators is $18.35 per hour)  

Night Shift Schedule: 

Monday - Thursday, 6:00AM – 4:00PM

Friday Overtime: 20 Hours Per Month -  Your choice of 4 (5 Hour) or 2 (10 Hour) OT shifts per month

Compensation:

Starting at $18.35 per hour

Position Description:

Fabrication Technicians setup, program, and run sheet metal fabrication machines which include lasers, turrets, EMLK, press brakes and spot welding. This candidate will read and interpret blueprints, use measuring equipment, handle materials, troubleshoot, perform quality inspections, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous fabrication experience preferred, but not required
• Experience with Cincinnati or Trumpf Press Brakes preferred, but not required. 
• Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret layouts and blueprints.
• Ability to troubleshoot problems as they occur.
• Physical requirements – candidate must stand for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively.  Must have good balance along with hand-eye-foot coordination.
• Required to have their own tools (caliper, square, protractor, etc.)
• Must be self-motivated, team player and have good written and oral communication skills.
• This is an in-person position, regular attendance is required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set-up and operate lasers, turret, EMLK and press brakes.
• Weld and metal finish components as specified by layouts, engineer drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
• Perform tasks such as selecting operating programs from database, send the program to the machine, select and mount fixtures.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with SMC’s policies and procedures.
• Set-up and troubleshoot machine as problems arise.
• Operate the Wilson tool sharpener and sheet lifting crane.
• Use measuring instruments such as caliper, square, protractor, etc.
• Ensure quality parts.
• Operator is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance.
• Other duties as assigned
