Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Press Brake Operator with strong CNC programming and setup experience, preferably on Dellum control systems. This role requires a skilled fabrication professional who can independently program, troubleshoot, calibrate, and optimize press brake production while serving as a technical resource for the team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating both a CNC Press Brake and Shear, making real-time machine adjustments, and producing high-quality metal components with minimal waste.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, and operate KAAST CNC Press Brake equipment.
  • Operate CNC shear equipment to cut material to specifications prior to forming operations.
  • Program machines directly from the control interface using Delem or Dellum controllers.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, work orders, and specifications.
  • Determine proper tooling, bend sequences, material allowances, and machine settings.
  • Input parameters including material type, thickness, dimensions, bend angles, and leg sizes.
  • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, and quality issues during production.
  • Adjust machine calibration, crowning, and deflection settings to ensure precision bends and dimensional accuracy.
  • Make on-the-floor programming modifications without relying on office-generated programs.
  • Inspect finished parts to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance and equipment checks.
  • Safely handle and move materials throughout the fabrication process.
  • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and production leadership to ensure production accuracy and efficiency.
  • Help establish best practices, quality standards, and process improvements.
  • Mentor and train less experienced operators while serving as a subject matter expert on press brake operations.

Qualifications

Required

  • 3+ years of CNC Press Brake setup, programming, and operation experience.
  • Experience programming directly at the machine controller.
  • Experience with Delem, Delem 51T, or Dellum controllers strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating both CNC press brakes and shears.
  • Strong understanding of tooling selection, bend calculations, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot production issues and make machine adjustments independently.
  • Knowledge of machine calibration, crowning, and deflection compensation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
  • Strong fabrication math and measurement skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Preferred

  • Experience with KAAST equipment.
  • Experience working with aluminum, sheet metal, or architectural metals.
  • CNC programming background.
  • Lean manufacturing or process improvement experience.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in a manufacturing environment that may be hot, cold, noisy, or dusty.
  • Ability to safely guide and handle large sheet metal components during fabrication.

What Success Looks Like

  • Independently operates and programs both the CNC shear and press brake.
  • Produces accurate, high-quality fabricated parts with minimal scrap.
  • Quickly diagnoses and resolves machine and quality issues.
  • Serves as the team's technical expert for Delem-controlled brake systems.
  • Improves overall quality, efficiency, and fabrication processes.
  • Successfully mentors and develops the skill level of fellow operators.

What We Offer

  • Competitive pay based on experience.
  • 90-day performance review with opportunity for increase.
  • Health benefits and 401(k).
  • Paid holidays and vacation.
  • Long-term career growth opportunities.
