Job Summary
The Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up and operating press brake machines to bend, form, and fabricate precision sheet metal parts according to detailed specifications. This role plays a critical part in producing high-quality components that meet tight tolerances and AS9100 standards. The operator works closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to ensure parts are completed accurately, safely, and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Set Up & Operation
- Set up press brake machines using provided programs, tools, and work instructions.
- Adjust machine settings to ensure correct angles, dimensions, and part quality.
- Perform first article inspections and adjust as needed.
Part Fabrication
- Operate the press brake to bend and form sheet metal parts per print specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, part drawings, and bend instructions.
- Ensure all parts meet dimensional and visual quality standards.
Tooling & Equipment Maintenance
- Select appropriate tooling and perform minor tool maintenance or replacement.
- Maintain clean and properly aligned tooling to ensure accurate bends.
- Perform basic daily machine maintenance and report any issues.
Quality Assurance
- Inspect parts during and after production for accuracy and defects.
- Document results and communicate any non-conformances.
- Work closely with quality control to ensure compliance with AS9100 requirements
Production Support
- Meet daily production schedules while maintaining high quality standards.
- Communicate material shortages, delays, or issues that impact workflow.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Safety & Housekeeping
- Follow all safety protocols and wear required PPE.
- Keep the work area clean and free of hazards.
- Report unsafe conditions or near misses to supervisors.
Qualifications
Education and Experience-
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1+ years of press brake operation in a precision sheet metal environment preferred.
- Experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment preferred
Skills & Competencies
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and use precision measurement tools.
- Strong understanding of bend allowances and press brake programming.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Manufacturing floor environment with exposure to noise, machinery, and metal components
- Standing for long periods, lifting up to 50lbs, frequent bending, reaching and repetitive movement.
- Safety protocols, including the use of PPT, must be always followed.
Schedule
- Hours: 2:15 PM – 10:45 PM, Monday – Friday
- Some flexibility may be required based on production needs
Compensation
Hourly Range: $19-26 per hour
Benefits include shared-cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period.
