Position Summary
The Precision Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and CNC machining equipment to manufacture, repair, and modify precision parts, tooling, fixtures, and components according to engineering drawings and specifications. This position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to hold tight tolerances, and experience using precision measuring instruments.
1st Shift - Monday – Friday, 6:30 am – 3:00 pm, Overtime Available
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines including lathes, mills, grinders, and other machining equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications.
- Machine parts to precise tolerances and quality standards.
- Perform tool changes, offsets, and machine adjustments as needed.
- Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments.
- Repair, modify, and fabricate tooling, fixtures, dies, molds, and machine components.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school or machinist apprenticeship preferred.
- Minimum of 3–5 years of machining experience preferred.
- Experience operating manual and CNC machining equipment.
- Strong blueprint reading and GD&T knowledge.
- Ability to work with tight tolerances and complex parts.
- Proficient in the use of precision measuring equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining materials.
- Experience in a tool room environment is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
- Lift and move up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing and machine shop environment.
- Exposure to machine noise, metal shavings, lubricants, and moving machinery.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
