The Pre-Production department is made up of a hardworking and fast-paced team that maintain the lenses, frames and the tracing of the frames. Superior Optical offers an automated system that helps inventory every lens and frame that is processed to ensure productivity. Reading a work ticket correctly and placing the correct lens and frame on each tray is vital to ensure a successful job completion. The tracers are responsible for tracing the shape of each frame and storing it within our DVI database for further use in the eyeglasses process.

We are looking for lab technicians for the manufacturing production of eye glasses and sun glasses. On the job training provided. The following are primary tasks:

  • Maintain proper storage for material and product inventory list daily.
  • Organize inventory in an easy-to-access process.
  • Pull lenses and frames from inventory by reviewing the information on the work ticket.
  • Scan the barcode on the work ticket by using a handheld barcode scanner. The order data is loaded automatically into the system and is displayed on the computer screen.
  • Verify correct lenses and frames were pulled by matching frame information on the work ticket to the information on the lens and frame packaging.
  • Move job trays with completed and verified products to the next established locations, based on information provided on the work ticket.
  • Keep up with daily back-order jobs to avoid delays in processing
  • The Tracers Calibrate each tracer on a scheduled time
  • Receive trays and work tickets from the frame department and process them to the lens department
  • Remove any current/previous lenses from the frame before tracing
  • Keep workstations and department clean and tidy.

Optical Experience and/or manufacturing experience is preferred.


Shift information:

Monday through Friday 3:30p - 12:00a

(some Saturday shifts are required)

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experienced in DVI software systems preferred but not required.
  • Attention to details

Physical Requirements:

  • Reaching above or below shoulder
  • Fast Paced
  • Lift up to 50lbs. (Heavy lifting inventory boxes)
  • Various acts of kneeling, crouching or crawling
  • Standing and or walking for 8 hours a AND/OR sitting for 8 hours a day
  • Visual Acuity
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Ability to distinguish colors
