Job Overview:

Position Summary:

While working as a 1st Shift (7am-3pm) Prepress Technician, you will be responsible for formatting and proofing text and images submitted by designers and clients into finished pages that can be printed. The person in this position ensures that jobs are built appropriately and efficiently in preparation for printing labels, sleeves and pouches. Note: This is a print production position, not a Graphic Design position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Generate proofs for customers
  • Build files that will ensure we can meet design intent and print efficiently.
  • Collaborate with sales, customer service, operations and customers to ensure we build files that meet customer design intent and print efficiently.
  • Output color proofs
  • Generate files for platemaking
  • Make printing plates as needed
  • Process artwork using industry standard workflows (Esko Preferred)
  • Detail oriented
  • Qualifications
  • Ability to work in a fast-pace environment
  • Ability to manage and adapt quickly to provided deadlines
  • Efficient time management skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Communicate ideas visually, orally, and written

Education and/or Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Computer Skills:

Performing this job successfully requires that an individual have a solid understanding of computers, email, data entry, and graphic arts software a familiarity with ESKO packaging software, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat/Pitstop, QuarkXPress, Publisher, Word, and Excel.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • HP Indigo experience preferred but not required
  • Must possess a working knowledge of PDF files
  • Requires the ability to operate a variety of standard business machines, such as a calculator, telephone, FAX, photocopier, etc.
  • Ability to prepare job tickets and layouts
  • A thorough knowledge of flexographic and digital printing and graphics processes
  • Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
  • Vision abilities required by this job are: the ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less, the ability to identify and distinguish colors, and the ability to adjust focus

Required experience:

  • Prepress: 1-3 years
  • Graphic arts: 3-5 years
