The Pre-Finisher is responsible for using a variety of tools to prepare metal door and frame surfaces for powder coating. The Pre-Finisher must fit metal glazing beads to each frame and perform final surface preparation (sanding) in accordance to required standard practices.

What You Will Do:

  • Performs final fitting of all glazing beads on assemblies.

  • Perform final sanding and cleaning of product surfaces (metal) to be coated.

  • Assist in the development of Standard Operating Procedures for pre-finishing activity.

  • Assist Weld Strider when needed.

  • Assist in weld cells when needed.

  • Reports all issues and inconsistencies.

  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal team members.

  • Improves work flow, work processes or work procedures as needed.

  • Trains additional team members.

  • Operate a variety of power/hand tools and equipment, including sanders, files, screwdrivers, and drills.

  • Understand and comply with all appropriate safety and work safety regulations.

  • Continuously maintain a clean work area including the cleanup and disposal of trash, production scrap, assists in cleaning common areas.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • Proficiency with sanding and grinding techniques.

  • One year of experience working in a manufacturing environment.

  • One year welding experience preferred.

  • Attention to detail and the ability to read blueprints, production and technical drawings preferred.

  • Assesses priorities to determine what is urgently needed.

  • Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools and equipment, including applicators, sandblasting and pressure washing equipment.

  • Ability to set rigging and operate lifts and small cranes as needed to perform work.

  • Provide high quality internal customer service.

  • Capable of completing assigned tasks in a limited timeframe.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to receive and provide instructions in a positive manner.

  • Remain alert in a high-risk environment.

  • Maintain schedule and tasks despite interruptions.

  • Ability to learn and work in a fast paced environment.

  • Takes initiative to escalate issues when they occur.

Physical Demands:

  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle parts and tools with precision.

  • Repetitive Motion: Perform repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, lifting, gripping, and grasping with hands.

  • Standing Duration: Ability to stand for up to 10 hours per shift.

  • Lifting Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Lift Assist Devices: Use of overhead crane and forklift with training may be required.

  • Environmental Exposure: Ability to work in environments with noise, chemicals, dust, sharp objects, moving/rotating mechanical parts, and temperature extremes.

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Respirator, fall protection, welding hood, etc. may be required depending on job duty and/or work area

Employment Type: Full-time, hourly non-exempt

Compensation: This range is provided by Allegion. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experiences.

  • The expected Base Hourly Range: $22.50 - $27.02. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
