Powder Coating Technician

Location: Aberdeen, NC | Full-Time | Manufacturing

A manufacturing company in Aberdeen, NC is hiring an experienced Powder Coating Technician / Powder Coater for its production team. This position is responsible for powder coating metal parts and components, preparing surfaces, operating powder coating equipment, and inspecting finished products for quality.

Candidates with experience as a Powder Coater, Powder Coating Technician, Powder Coat Painter, Industrial Painter, Production Painter, Paint Technician, Spray Painter, or Metal Finisher are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform powder coating of metal parts and fabricated components.

• Prepare metal surfaces for coating by cleaning, sanding, masking, hanging, and other surface preparation processes.

• Operate powder coating spray guns, powder coating systems, spray equipment, and curing ovens.

• Set and adjust powder coating equipment for proper powder flow, air pressure, coverage, and application.

• Apply powder coating evenly to meet required thickness, coverage, color, texture, and finish specifications.

• Inspect coated parts for quality, coverage, adhesion, color, texture, and finish defects.

• Identify and correct defects including thin coating, heavy coating, contamination, orange peel, poor adhesion, and improper curing.

• Perform touch-up and rework as necessary.

• Load and unload parts from the powder coating line and curing oven.

• Maintain powder coating equipment and keep the work area clean and organized.

• Follow production schedules, work instructions, quality standards, and safety procedures.

• Wear required PPE and follow OSHA and workplace safety requirements.

• Work with production and quality teams to meet daily production goals.

Qualifications

• Previous powder coating experience strongly preferred.

• Experience with industrial painting, spray painting, metal finishing, or manufacturing is highly relevant.

• Experience operating a powder coating spray gun or industrial spray equipment preferred.

• Knowledge of surface preparation, powder application, curing, and finished-product inspection.

• Manufacturing or metal fabrication experience preferred.

• Ability to read and follow work instructions and production specifications.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

• Ability to use basic hand tools and production equipment.

• Dependable attendance and strong work ethic.
