Description
The Powder Coat Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing various skilled tasks in repair and maintenance of machinery, buildings, and equipment. This position ensures that all JR Custom Metal Products equipment is in good working order at all times. This includes completing routine preventive maintenance, troubleshooting equipment mechanical and operational problems, planning repairs with in coordination with maintenance coordinator, and executes corrective actions to return equipment to working order as quickly as possible.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB TASKS:
- Analyzes mechanical and operational problems on assigned equipment and plans for and takes corrective action. Makes necessary corrections and running adjustments to maintain maximum production and quality. Tasks may include tests from assigned equipment for quality specifications, using gauges and instruments, and records results. Monitored by machinery downtime and the production supervisor.
- Serves as electrician in repairing minor electrical malfunctions and installing new equipment. Installs electrical wiring, switching devices, controls, outlets, fixtures, motors, and other such equipment. Monitored by self and by the production supervisor.
- Observes machine operation for the purpose of adjusting controls and monitoring output. Tasks may include detecting malfunctions through observing and monitoring visual and auditory changes in machine performance, determining appropriate actions to correct problems, and adjusting controls and control media as necessary. Notifies production supervisor of recurring equipment malfunctions and quality problems or supplies needed. Monitored by self and by the production supervisor.
- Reviews production schedule and when equipment is not scheduled for manufacturing, performs preventive maintenance check and inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings to production supervisor and takes appropriate action. Monitored by self and the production supervisor.
- May perform minor repairs to air conditioning system, plumbing, sewer system, water pipes and heating systems. Acts as a carpenter in the alteration, repair, and maintenance of buildings, floors, roofs, stairways, partitions, doors, windows, screens, scaffolding forms, wood fixtures, and furniture. Monitored by self and by supervisor.
- Maintains tools and machinery in good condition and uses all tools carefully and safely. Implements safety procedures for the purpose of maintaining the safety of personnel at all times. Tasks may include attending safety training and practicing safe procedures at all times. Monitored by self, compliance with safety standards, and by supervisor.
- Maintains preventative maintenance programs for the powder coat equipment.
- Ensuring safety systems and procedures are followed.
- Undertake other duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility of position.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess high organizational skills to handle multiple tasks and establish effective work priorities in a fast paced, high pressure environment.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the field of general repairs, including at least one year’s experience in plumbing, electrical repair, and air conditioning; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Or any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities of this position.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
- Valid Drivers License, required
- Forklift license, required
- Overhead crane, preferred
- Electrical, preferred
- Safety credentials, preferred
- Mechanical, preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Frequent standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead, required.
- Frequent bending, squatting, and twisting, required.
- Ability to comply with safety requirements of manufacturing environment (for example: safety glasses, steel toe shoes, etc.), required.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently, required.
- Ability to use hand and power tools, ability to hear sounds and work in an usually loud environment, sense of touch, sense of sight

OTHER:
- Working more than 40 hours per week may be required on a frequent basis in order to complete company deliverables.
