Role Profile: Powder Blender

Mott Corporation (An IDEX Business Unit)

Position Summary

The Powder Blender is responsible for the setup, operation, and control of powder blending and screening activities to meet production work requests. This role ensures accurate powder fractions, material traceability, and compliance with quality and safety standards while supporting material flow across value streams.

Key Responsibilities

Core Operations

  • Set up and operate powder blending equipment in accordance with work instructions and production schedules
  • Screen and process powders to achieve required size distribution and material specifications
  • Issue and stage powders per work order pick lists and standardized procedures

Inventory & Systems Management

  • Maintain accurate inventory records and material transactions within NetSuite
  • Record all issued, returned, and credited materials to ensure accountability and traceability

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure proper identification, handling, and traceability of all powder materials
  • Analyze powders for density and size distribution as required
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, quality standards, and operational protocols

Operational Support

  • Support powder issuance across multiple value streams
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts and hoists
  • Maintain work area cleanliness and organization in accordance with 6S standards

Key Accountabilities

  • Accuracy and quality of blended and screened powder outputs
  • Inventory integrity and system transaction accuracy
  • Compliance with safety, QMS, and material traceability requirements
  • Timely fulfillment of production work requests

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 1–3 years of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on production experience highly valued

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong mathematical and measurement skills
  • Basic computer proficiency (ERP systems experience preferred)
  • Organizational and detail-oriented mindset
  • Ability to follow detailed work instructions and maintain documentation accuracy

Equipment & Work Environment

  • Powder blenders, sieves, scales, and testing equipment
  • Material handling equipment including forklifts and hoists
  • Exposure to powdered metals and specialty alloys, including stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and titanium
  • Industrial manufacturing environment with adherence to safety protocols

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and push/pull up to 100 lbs
  • Prolonged standing, walking, and material handling in a production setting
  • Visual acuity for inspection, measurement, and equipment operation

Training Requirements

  • Forklift certification
  • Safety procedures and compliance training
  • Quality Management System (QMS) training

Total Rewards

The starting compensation for this position is $27.50 per hour. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
