Reporting to the Dry Plant Manager, the Plant Operator will be responsible for the operation of the dry plant and load out operations and ensuring maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the company. Has been cross trained in all aspects, tasks and sub-tasks of plant operations and rail load out. 

 Essential Functions Statement(s)

  1. Performing general labor such as plant clean-up and housekeeping. Participates in screen changes.
  2. Following directions and completing tasks in a timely manner with close supervision.
  3. Tasks include, but are not limited to cleaning under tail pulleys and high build up areas, ensuring belts are tracking properly, participating in frequent screen changes, and any other tasks assigned by lead or dry plant manager.
  4. Ability to train on plant control systems and railcar loading procedures
  5. Ability to train on and be fully capable of operating skid steers, tele handlers and man lifts.
  6. Ability to train in Quality Assurance program by learning test processes as required by the QA program and procedures.
  7. Communicating with shift leads and dry plant manager as to any process malfunctions or irregularities.
  8. Assisting with rail load out when needed including inspection of rail cars and silo housekeeping.
  9. Participating in plant maintenance program, general equipment upkeep and critical checks as directed by dry plant manager.
  10. Assisting maintenance technicians in performing routine maintenance and repairs including greasing, belt changes and equipment adjustments as needed
  11. Other duties as assigned

Experience & Skills:

  1. A minimum of six (6) months to one (1) years’ experience of which prior experience related to operating small equipment such as fork lifts, bobcats and man lifts.  
  2. Basic knowledge and experience with safe procedures, including industrial mineral materials handling desirable.
  3. Basic analytical experience.
  4. Education in a related field may count toward experience.
  5. Basic computer knowledge.

Work Environment:

  1. Work performed in a plant environment. Exposure to inclement weather as some work will be performed outside.
  2. Personal Protective Equipment: 
    • Safety glasses, 
    • hard hat, 
    • steel toe boots 
    • Respirator when required.
    • Auditory and fall protection applicable when required.
