Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Plant Manager - Ready Mixed Concrete to join our Lowcountry team. What You'll Do:

  • Safely batch concrete and load trucks according to order specifications, maintaining high-quality standards and operational efficiency.
  • Enter material tickets into the back-office system accurately and promptly.
  • Prepare daily delivery packets, including batch tickets, material tickets, daily truck sheets, and relevant receipts for submission to the main office.
  • Perform quality checks on sand moisture, slump, and temperature readings according to scheduled protocols.
  • Schedule drivers for the following day based on times provided by Dispatch, ensuring timely and efficient deliveries.
  • Actively motivate, coach, and support drivers and other plant staff to promote a positive and productive work environment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe plant and fleet area, adhering to safety and cleanliness standards.
  • Distribute, receive, and review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) from all supervising drivers to ensure vehicle safety and compliance.
  • Conduct daily truck check-ins to verify vehicle condition and readiness for operation.
  • Communicate with Shop to report issues with plant trucks / heavy equipment and coordinate repairs. 
  • Record hours on trucks weekly and record in public file for service schedules.
  • Communicate with Fleet Maintenance to coordinate planned services on plant trucks and heavy equipment.
  • Work with maintenance department to perform routine plant maintenance; communicate and coordinate plant repairs, and to report issues

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of related experience in concrete batching, plant operations, or a similar production environment.
  • Possess ACI Level I Certification or can obtain ACI Level I Certification within six months of employment.
  • Possess SCDOT Concrete Technician – Batching Certification or can obtain SCDOT Concrete Technician – Batching Certification within six months of employment.
  • Ability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends as needed.
  • Prior supervisory / management experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with drivers and customers.
  • Superior organizational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects.
  • Eagerness to achieve and maintain a level of excellence in customer service.
  • Good aptitude for coordination, planning, and scheduling.
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations under tight deadlines.


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, stoop, bend, squat, lift, stretch, push, pull, twist, kneel, stand, walk, sit, reach, and operate a computer keyboard. 
  • Ability to safely climb up and down stairs and/or ladders.
  • Ability to work primarily outside, with exposure to the extremes of hot or cold weather.
