Plant Manager – Precision CNC Manufacturing

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Plant Manager to lead operations at a high-precision CNC manufacturing facility. Our shop specializes in complex multi-axis CNC machining with extremely tight tolerances in a fast-paced job shop environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep knowledge of CNC machining processes, and proven experience managing production, quality, and personnel in a precision manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operations, driving operational efficiency, maintaining strict quality standards, and leading a team of machinists, programmers, and production staff.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee daily plant operations, including production scheduling, machining, quality, and shipping.
• Lead and develop teams of CNC machinists and programmers
• Ensure production meets tight tolerance and high-precision quality requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
• Manage production planning and workflow for multi-axis CNC lathes and mills.
• Maintain and enforce safety, quality, and operational standards.
• Collaborate with engineering and programming teams to optimize machining processes.
• Monitor KPIs, productivity, and machine utilization.
• Manage staffing, training, and performance management.
• Support quoting, cost control, and overall plant profitability.
Qualifications
• 7+ years of manufacturing leadership experience, preferably in a CNC machining environment.
• Strong knowledge of multi-axis CNC machining (mills and lathes).
• Experience working with tight tolerances and complex machined components.
• Proven experience managing production teams and shop operations.
• Strong understanding of quality control, process improvement, and lean manufacturing principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• Background as a CNC machinist, programmer, or manufacturing engineer.
• Experience in job shop or high-mix low-volume manufacturing.
• Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
