Position Purpose
Plans, directs, monitors and or co-ordinates through department leads overall plant operations activities which include production, materials, quality assurance, and information systems to produce the highest quality product at the lowest possible cost. Devises and implements processes that minimize production costs and waste while maximizing production output. Recommends methods to improve safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
Scope/Complexity/Supervisory Responsibilities
Establishes operational objectives and assignments. Delegates assignments to leads. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies which affect immediate operation(s) and may also have company-wide effect. Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Ensures schedules, and performance requirements are met.
Key Accountabilities
Oversee and manage day to day operations of the Production Floor.
Lead staff to deliver and exceed performance metrics in areas of safety, quality, customer, service, costs, inventory management and production.
Manage, analyse, create reports, and develop recommendations from the key metrics of Plant operations.
Coordinate, control and schedule production to meet sales and marketing demand levels.
Develop policies and procedures targeted to eliminate downtime and improve plant efficiencies.
Ensure compliance with all safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and company policies.
Perform production area walkthroughs, investigate problem areas, determine cause, mitigate to ensure policy conformance.
Ensure plant is inspection ready at all times.
Ensure Production team achieve to FIFO.
Address and respond to new product review (PPR) questions.
Evaluate Plant performance, monitor expenses and resolve internal and customer issues.
Resolve variances (production reporting, ingredient usage, labor utilization).
Hire, train, coach and manage Production Plant team
Foster positive employee relations
Measure employee and team performance.
Review and approve timecard reports.
Set forth standards for safety.
Ensure accident/loss prevention and security policies are followed.

Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience and Competencies Proficiency Level
Required
Bachelor’s degree and 7 years food manufacturing experience, including managerial experience OR associate’s degree and 10 years of food manufacturing experience, including managerial experience
Production, Quality, engineering or production background in food manufacturing
Excellent leadership, communications and team building skills
General knowledge of process equipment and regulatory compliance
Good writing, mathematics, analytical and critical thinking skills
Basic accounting knowledge
Computer literate with proficiency in spreadsheet and word applications
Preferred
Ability to take a global approach to business
Work cross functionally across all department levels.
Experience working in a union environment and knowledge of union contract administration

The noise level in the work environment is often moderate to loud.
