Plant Manager – CNC Manufacturing

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 annually, based on experience
Position Overview
The Plant Manager will have overall responsibility for production, quality, process engineering, maintenance, safety, customer delivery, continuous improvement, and plant financial performance.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Plant Manager or a strong Manufacturing/Operations Manager who is ready to take the next step into full plant leadership.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on knowledge of CNC machining and job-shop manufacturing along with the leadership ability to develop teams, improve operational performance, control costs, and consistently meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide overall leadership for plant manufacturing operations with responsibility for safety, quality, delivery, cost, and employee performance.
- Lead Production, Quality, Process Engineering, and Maintenance functions.
- Manage daily production within a high-mix, low-volume CNC machining environment.
- Oversee CNC machining operations, including programming support, machine setup, tooling, fixtures, cycle-time improvement, and equipment reliability.
- Develop production schedules and balance capacity, labor, machine availability, setups, and customer priorities.
- Drive improvements in throughput, productivity, scrap, downtime, setup time, quality, and on-time delivery.
- Monitor plant financial performance, including budgets, labor costs, margins, forecasting, capital expenditures, and operating variances.
- Partner with leadership on revenue forecasts, capacity requirements, capital planning, and operational strategy.
- Identify and execute continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Support quoting, order review, new product introduction, program launches, supplier coordination, and subcontractor performance.
- Ensure appropriate preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability initiatives are maintained.
- Support quality systems, corrective actions, customer requirements, and controlled manufacturing documentation.
- Develop and hold accountable supervisors, technical leaders, and production employees.
- Partner with Human Resources on staffing, training, performance management, succession planning, and employee development.
- Maintain a safe, organized, professional manufacturing environment.
- Communicate plant performance, priorities, challenges, and improvement initiatives to company leadership.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers, suppliers, employees, and other business functions.
Qualifications
- 7+ years of progressive manufacturing experience with increasing leadership responsibility.
- Strong background in CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
- Previous experience as a Plant Manager, Operations Manager, Manufacturing Manager, Production Manager, or similar manufacturing leadership role.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining processes, tooling, fixtures, machine setups, routings, cycle-time reduction, and shop-floor problem solving.
- Experience operating within a high-mix, low-volume or job-shop manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience leading manufacturing teams and improving operational performance.
- Working knowledge of P&L statements, budgets, forecasting, labor costs, capital expenditures, cost drivers, and variance analysis.
- Experience with production scheduling, capacity planning, purchasing, inventory, shipping, and job-cost management.
- Experience utilizing an ERP or manufacturing management system; Plex experience is a plus but not required.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing quality systems, corrective actions, and customer requirements.
- Strong continuous improvement and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to develop employees, establish accountability, and build a strong manufacturing culture.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Business, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent manufacturing experience will be considered.
