Who You are:
Be a dependable team leader that can work independently and make rational decisions, must have good communication, displays patience, common sense, understanding, and professionalism. Must have discretion, and be safety conscious.
Average knowledge on how to read maps, basic writing and math skills. Have basic knowledge of the local area and local contractors/customers and concrete construction practices. Computer operating skills (windows applications) and average keyboarding skills.
What We are Looking for:
- Previous experience in all aspects of batching, dispatching, delivery of concrete, as well as previous supervisory skills.
- Should have valid CDL Class B Driver's License and driving record within the tolerable insurability limits (Carroll Concrete Company's discretion).
- Fully understand and follow the company's philosophy as it pertains to customers.
- Follow up on customer complaints and concerns.
- When directed, make customer site visit, collect payments or any other customer related items.
What you will be doing:
- Batch and load at the appropriate time to arrive on the jobsite as scheduled.
- Complete all paperwork in its entirety and forward as applicable.
- Operate front end loader as needed.
- Manage labor hours.
- Ensure that all employees are following company’s policies and procedures.
- Monitor job performance and productivity.
- Foster a team building environment.
- Employee performance appraisals (accurate, detailed and unbiased appraisals are expected).
- Ensure that CMV operators are completing Driver Daily Vehicle Inspection
- Reports (accurate, complete and timely)
- Ensure that equipment operators are performing Daily Pre-shift Inspections
- Ensure that driver logs, fuel usage reporting and mileage logs are complete and accurate.
- Maintenance of Plant/Yard General Housekeeping
Additional Responsibilities:
- Plant Manager is ultimately responsible for the actions of all employees under their supervision as well as the efficient and safe operation of their plant and equipment.
- Oversee or complete all maintenance needed for the safe and efficient operation of the assigned plant including Plant/Yard inspections and maintenance (as per the Plant Maintenance Schedule).
- Oversees all general housekeeping of the plant, yard, and shop in accordance with the Safety Manual Policy #13.
- Ensure that drivers are keeping company vehicles clean inside and outside.
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:
- Ensure that assigned plant is in compliance with OSHA regulations (perform internal safety audit weekly).
- Ensure that assigned plant is following EPA regulations compliance requirements.
- Daily and monthly SPCC plan inspections.
- Responsible for up-to-date SDS sheets for all products on site.
- If your plant has a storm water plan you must perform daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly inspections, reports and sampling.
- Perform safety huddles with staff weekly or more frequently if necessary
- Ensure that all employees are using all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and are working safely.
- Accident investigation and reports as necessary (vehicle and employee injury) notify supervisor and Safety Director immediately.
- Green-star plant managers must comply with the EMS and the Green-star plan for your location.
Inventory:
- Maintain inventory to meet production demands and customer needs.
- Timely and accurate month end inventory reports and other month end paperwork as assigned.
EDUCATION: High School Education or Equivalent
Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/maneuver a minimum of 50 pounds as required throughout the workday.
- Must be able to maneuver in and out of truck safely to operate as needed.
- Ability to inspect all areas on mixers and plant.
- Ability to climb ladder to check inventories and or to perform plant maintenance.
- Perform multiple tasks under stressful situations over long periods of time while maintaining proper composure.
- Must be able to work long and flexible hours as necessary
- CDL holders must pass DOT (Department of Transportation) physical as well as federally mandated alcohol and drug testing requirements
- Part of a plant manager's job duties will be "other" tasks/duties as assigned or as necessary. (To include operating a mixer when necessary.)
