Rogers Group is seeking a Plant Maintenance Technician to join our team at our Sand & Gravel Mining/Processing Plant located in Bronte Texas, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. The successful candidates for this role should be an experienced stick welder, millwright or maintenance person who can maintain and repair plant operations including working with crushers, conveyors and screens. The ideal candidate will have mechanical and/or electrical maintenance experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work safely in a fast-paced industrial and mining environment. The position may also include general work around the quarry operation and other duties as assigned. Hours of operation must be flexible and will require weekend work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment.
- Maintain and repair conveyors, crushers, screens, pumps, motors, and other aggregate-processing equipment.
- Inspect equipment to identify potential maintenance issues and prevent unexpected breakdowns.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and communicate equipment issues to management.
- Follow all company safety policies and applicable mining/MSHA requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Assist with keeping the sand and gravel plant operating safely and efficiently.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School or Equivalent Required
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the mining industry, preferably in the surface aggregate industry.
- Heavy equipment maintenance experience required.
Qualifications
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing, industrial, mining, aggregate, or similar environment preferred.
- Mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting experience preferred.
- Welding/fabrication experience is a plus.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Mining/MSHA experience is preferred but not required, depending on company requirements.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Perform physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting (up to 75 lbs.) for extended periods (up to 12 hours).
- Work at heights up to 350 feet and in tight spaces to install and handle heavy parts.
- Must have visual acuity, good hand-eye coordination, and the ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Outdoor work in varying weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, wet) may be required.
- Exposure to high noise levels, dust, diesel exhaust, lubricants, solvents, and fuels.
- Availability to work various schedules, including days, nights, and extended hours during equipment outages.
