A Plant Maintenance Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the overall repair, maintenance, and replacement of manufacturing equipment and the facility itself. They act as a technical advisor to the plant leadership team, ensuring that all machinery and building systems operate at peak efficiency while maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Maintenance Strategy & Operations:
- Follow preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM)
schedules to ensure optimal machine reliability.
- Utilize
Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
to schedule work orders, track performance trends, and manage equipment documentation.
- Analyze maintenance data and KPIs (e.g., uptime, spend metrics) to identify root causes of failures and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee the repair, installation, and commissioning of new manufacturing machinery and facility system
Team Leadership & Development:
- Supervise, coach, and train maintenance technicians and supervisors, setting clear performance expectations and conducting regular evaluations.
- Manage shift schedules and delegate tasks to ensure 24/7 operational support where required.
- Foster a high-performance culture grounded in safety, accountability, and technical growth.
Budget & Compliance:
- Develop and manage the annual
maintenance and capital expenditure (CAPEX)
budgets, tracking expenses to ensure financial targets are met.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including
OSHA and company policies and procedures
- Maintain, organize, and inventory of critical spare parts and plant operating supplies
Qualifications & Skills
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical (preferred), or Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience may be considered).
- Experience:
5+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a management or supervisory capacity.
- Technical Knowledge:
Expertise in troubleshooting high-voltage electrical (up to 480V), mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. PLC troubleshooting from I/O and ability to read ladder logic. Programming experience a plus but not required.
- Soft Skills:
Strong problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication for cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to remain calm in emergency breakdown situations.
