JOB DESCRIPTION: The Lead assists the Shift Supervisor directing the work of a Team of hourly production workers, including Operators, Plant Technicians, and Shift Mechanics on an assigned 12 hour shift. The Lead is an Operator when the Shift Supervisor is available, completes delegated tasks from the Shift Supervisor, and is expected to support and help drive the direction provided by the Shift Supervisor. The Lead acts as a back up Supervisor when the Shift Supervisor is unavailable. The Lead models safe behaviors, and guides all production procedures and activities, assigns work, enforces policies and procedures, and ensures safety, housekeeping, regulatory compliance, quality, and productivity while also providing personnel and troubleshooting guidance. The Lead is expected to sustain a high-performing workforce in the Shift Supervisor’s absence. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, the Lead is expected to supervise personnel and resources to effectively and efficiently meet the shift production schedule and goals. The Lead reports to the Shift Supervisor, is located at Camden, NJ, U.S.A., and is not available for remote work. |
Primary Responsibilities Safety, Housekeeping, and Compliance – Sustain a culture of safety, housekeeping, and compliance within the Team and actively contribute to and support continuous improvement of that culture. In partnership with the Shift Supervisor, reinforce clear performance expectations for strict compliance with safety standards, plant organization/cleanliness, environmental regulations, and industry-specific guidelines. In partnership with the Shift Supervisor, reinforce that OSHA regulations and other safety-related rules as well as housekeeping and environmental requirements are adhered to and enforced. Conduct safety and housekeeping “rounds” to be visible to Team members and to be aware of plant conditions. Ensure that equipment undergoing maintenance is made safe. Quality and Continuous Improvement – Sustain a culture of quality within the Team and actively contribute to and support continuous improvement of that culture. In partnership with the Shift Supervisor, reinforce clear performance expectations for adherence to ResinTech’s ISO 9001 Quality program. Reinforce that following and completing operating instructions and quality assurance documents is adhered to and enforced. Conduct quality “rounds” to be visible to Team members and to be aware of product conditions. Conduct visual inspections and sign offs as required by batch sheets. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, ensure that batch sheets turned in by Operators and Technicians are complete. As needed, contribute to the investigation of quality non-conformances and incidents to assist in developing improvements to SOPs and practices. Team Management – Sustain a culture of collaboration within the Team and actively contribute to and support continuous improvement of that culture. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, manage a Team of approximately 15 employees including Operators, Technicians, and Shift Mechanics. Provide leadership and direction. In partnership with the Shift Supervisor, reinforce clear performance expectations and provide ongoing feedback and coaching. Contribute to developing and maintaining a skilled, motivated, efficient, and high-performing Team. Conduct routine “rounds” to be visible and available to Team members. Production Management – When backing up the Shift Supervisor, direct shift production operations to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of all processes. Allocate and optimize resources, including labor, materials, and equipment to meet production demands. Monitor and report on production via accurate and complete Shift End Reports. Reliability – Utilize the Maintenance Management System (eMaint) to generate work orders. Support work permitting for Shift Mechanics. Collaborate with Shift Mechanics to organize, plan, and execute breakdown maintenance. Intra and Inter Department Collaboration - Sustain a culture of collaboration among shift Teams and actively contribute to and support continuous improvement of that culture. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, reinforce clear performance expectations for shift interaction, including shift exchanges. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, ensure that comprehensive, in person, at workstation shift changes are adhered to and enforced. Coordinate and collaborate with other Shift Supervisors, Leads, and Maintenance. Other Department interaction may be required such as Lab, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse, and other Departments to sustain synergetic engagement, achieve high-quality production output, and align with achievement of Company goals. Reinforce clear communication among Teams ensuring alignment with Company policies, objectives, and production goals.
Incident Management –When backing up the Shift Supervisor, prepare and distribute incident reports promptly for incidents that occur. When backing up the Shift Supervisor, prioritize personnel safety for any incidents during shift and follow escalation protocol to management as needed. Qualifications and Education Requirements - 5+ years of chemical batch processing
- 2+ years in leadership position with demonstration of oversight of a process/processes

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE - Credits or certifications tied to manufacturing operations, STEM, and leadership
- Awareness of OSHA PSM program or equivalent requirements (e.g. N.J. TCPA)
- Ion-exchange resin or wastewater treatment experience
- Working knowledge of basic process control systems, PLCs, and DCSs
Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs
- Must be able to be trained in respirator use and confined space entry.
- Must be able to climb stairs/ladders and work at elevated heights.
