Working under minimal daily supervision and utilizing available resources, the Planner & Estimator is responsible for developing cost estimates, defining machining processes, and planning the logistical flow of any sub-components/raw material. The role includes technical evaluation of inquiries, inquiries about OSP’s pricing and completion thereof. In parallel, the role manages production planning activities, including material availability, scheduling, expediting, and coordination of outside processing to support on time delivery. The position also provides technical support to the shop floor, reviews completed job costs, drives process and cost improvements, and ensures efficient execution of customer requirements from inquiry through delivery.
Costing, Estimating & Master Data
Create and maintain cost estimates in SAP, including material masters, bills of material, and routings.
Review planned vs. actual costs after job completion and adjusting cost as needed.
Maintain and release cost estimates, production lot sizes, safety stock levels, and related master data.
Interface with shop floor and engineering to determine product specifications and maximize cost accuracy.
Reaching out to OSP’s to ask for quotes for new and existing processes
Production Planning & Scheduling
Provide lead times for customer inquiries.
Analyze, plan and confirm sales orders with respect to capacity and material availability using SAP/FastPro.
Create production orders, review new sales orders, and communicate critical dates to internal stakeholders.
Establish and maintain production priorities in collaboration with the Production Scheduler and Production Manager.
Monitor exception messages and resolve scheduling conflicts or production issues.
Process & Product Support
Support shop floor teams by coordinating fixturing, tooling, CNC/CMM program needs, and process documentation.
Follow up on new product manufacturing processes to ensure master data accuracy and schedule adherence.
Implement product revision changes and ensure all related documentation, tools, fixtures, programs, and drawings are updated.
Work on continuous improvement activities, including process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
Cross‑Functional Communication
Act as a point of contact for Sales regarding delivery commitments, order status, and schedule changes.
Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal departments as needed.
Keep relevant departments informed about material availability, schedule modifications, and job status.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure ISO/AS9100 compliance across all manufacturing estimation, planning, and scheduling processes, including ITAR/EAR‑related work.
Support process documentation efforts
Maintain document management in SAP and other supporting systems.
Qualifications:
Must be US citizen.
Minimum of High School diploma required. A two-year degree or certification in machine technology preferred.
Three (3) years’ experience in estimating and planning functions in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and work with ASME and ISO drafting standards; familiarity with GD&T.
Strong background in machining (milling, turning, drilling); experience working with high performance materials (molybdenum, tantalum, tungsten) desired.
In-depth knowledge of the SAP module PP and MM preferred; other software experience is essential.
Basic understanding of MRP functions in a manufacturing environment.
Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and work with minimal supervision.
Detail-oriented with strong problem- analysis and solving skills.
Proficiency in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Strong communication, organization and technical writing skills.

The base compensation for this position is between 60-85k annually, commensurate with skill and experience level.
