Pipefitter/Welder – Direct Hire

Location: Ashland, VA

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM

Pay: $30–$35/hr (based on experience)

Travel: ~30% (project-based)

Overview

A well‑established industrial contractor in the Ashland area is seeking an experienced Pipefitter with welding ability to support both shop fabrication and onsite installation work. This is a direct hire role offering steady hours, competitive pay, and long‑term stability.

Responsibilities

• Perform pipefitting layout, cutting, threading, and assembly
• Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and schematics
• Perform stick welding (SMAW) on carbon steel piping and structural components
• Assist with fabrication of piping assemblies and mechanical components
• Install piping systems, pumps, valves, hangers, and related mechanical equipment
• Conduct system tests and quality checks
• Travel to job sites for installation and service work (~30%)
• Maintain safe work habits and proper use of tools and equipment

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industrial or mechanical pipefitting experience
• Proficiency with stick welding; able to pass a weld test
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, and pipe fabrication equipment
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
