Our client manufactures HVAC and cooling systems for data centers, building modular, factory-assembled units that support some of the largest mission-critical facilities in the country. Their Haslet, TX facility runs a high-volume production environment where skilled trades build and assemble large-scale cooling equipment before it ships to job sites. Demand for data center cooling continues to grow, which means steady work, consistent overtime, and long-term stability.

Job Description:

The Pipefitter / Mechanical Fitter fabricates, assembles, and installs piping systems and mechanical components on data center cooling units in a shop manufacturing environment. You will work from blueprints and isometric drawings to fit up chilled water, condenser water, and refrigerant piping, set mechanical equipment, and make sure every unit meets quality standards before it leaves the floor. This role suits a hands-on tradesperson who takes pride in precise, clean work and does well in a fast-paced production setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication specs
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bevel, and fit carbon steel, stainless steel, and copper piping
  • Fit up piping spools, headers, and assemblies for welders and tack weld as needed
  • Install and align pumps, valves, strainers, coils, heat exchangers, and other mechanical components
  • Assemble chilled water, condenser water, and refrigerant piping systems on modular cooling units
  • Install pipe supports, hangers, and brackets according to drawings
  • Perform hydrostatic and pneumatic pressure testing and correct any leaks
  • Use rigging equipment, overhead cranes, and forklifts to move and position materials and components safely
  • Verify dimensions and tolerances and complete quality checks on finished work
  • Coordinate with welders, electricians, and structural fitters to keep production on schedule
  • Keep the work area clean and organized and follow all safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Required Experience/Skills:

  • 2+ years of pipefitting experience in industrial, commercial, mechanical, or manufacturing settings
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometrics, and fabrication drawings
  • Strong knowledge of pipe fitting math, takeoffs, and offsets
  • Experience with carbon steel, stainless steel, and/or copper piping systems
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, pipe threaders, groovers, band saws, and measuring tools
  • Experience with grooved (Victaulic-style), threaded, flanged, and/or welded connections
  • Ability to work 50 to 60 hours per week, including overtime and occasional weekends
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Must have own basic hand tools

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Experience with HVAC, chilled water, or data center cooling equipment
  • Experience in modular or skid fabrication manufacturing
  • Tack welding experience (SMAW, GMAW, or GTAW)
  • Brazing or soldering experience with copper refrigerant lines
  • Pressure testing experience
  • Forklift and overhead crane certification
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
  • Journeyman pipefitter card or completed apprenticeship

Education:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Trade school or pipefitting apprenticeship is a plus
