Renfrow Industrial is seeking experienced and reliable Structural and Pipe Welders to join our team. This skilled journeyman-level role performs structural steel and industrial pipe welding for process piping, utility piping, equipment supports, platforms, structural modifications, machinery installations, and other industrial construction scopes within active plants, manufacturing facilities, shutdowns, and heavy commercial environments. The ideal candidate has strong welding and fabrication knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety, quality, and code-compliant workmanship.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform structural and pipe welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and other approved materials using the welding process and procedure required by the project
- Read and interpret blueprints, structural drawings, piping isometrics, P&IDs, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
- Set up, prepare, fit, tack, align, and weld components according to project dimensions, joint details, and applicable specifications
- Use SMAW (Stick), GTAW (TIG), FCAW (Flux Core), and GMAW (MIG) processes when qualified and required by the assignment
- Cut, bevel, grind, clean, and prepare base materials while maintaining required root openings, joint geometry, and fit-up tolerances
- Inspect completed welds and surrounding surfaces for visible defects and correct deficiencies in accordance with approved repair procedures
- Coordinate with Pipe Fitters, Millwrights, Ironworkers, Riggers, Fabricators, and mechanical crews to support safe and efficient installation sequencing
- Access elevated, confined, and challenging work areas while following OSHA regulations, hot-work requirements, and site-specific safety standards
- Maintain welding equipment, leads, hoses, tools, and work areas in a safe and serviceable condition
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Ability to climb, balance, lift up to 50 pounds, and work at heights or in confined spaces
- Coordinate eye-hand movements and safely operate welding, cutting, grinding, and material-handling equipment
- Ability to perform physically demanding work including bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and handling heavy materials
- Work on active industrial jobsites in varying conditions requiring sustained focus, alertness, and mobility
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years relevant industrial structural welding and/or pipe welding experience required
- Successfully complete Renfrow Industrial’s applicable welding qualification test(s), which may include 6G pipe, small-bore pipe, and/or 2G, 3G, or 4G structural plate tests based on the assignment
- Weld tests must meet ASME Section IX, applicable AWS requirements, client specifications, and/or project acceptance criteria and may be subject to visual examination, bend testing, or radiographic testing
- Experience using SMAW, GTAW, FCAW, and GMAW welding equipment and procedures as applicable to structural and pipe work
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, welding symbols, isometrics, WPS documents, safety warnings, and project instructions
- Strong knowledge of joint preparation, fit-up, metallurgy, weld quality, and safe hot-work practices; valid driver’s license preferred

Position Limitations
- Production welding may only be performed within the employee’s current qualifications, assigned process, material, position, and approved project procedures.
- This position performs independent welding work within assigned scope after successfully completing applicable qualification requirements.
- This position does not supervise or direct other employees unless specifically designated by management.
- Perform cutting, grinding, joint preparation, fit-up, tack welding, weld repairs, shutdown work, and system or structural modifications within assigned scope.
- Coordinate with project managers, superintendents, quality personnel, inspectors, and other trades to ensure scope alignment, inspection readiness, and successful project completion.
- Follow approved WPS requirements, quality-control procedures, and project documentation requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Frequent handling of welding equipment, leads, hoses, tools, and fabricated components.
- Must be comfortable working in active industrial plants, manufacturing facilities, shutdown environments, elevated work areas, confined spaces, and outdoor heavy commercial jobsites with varying conditions.
Structural & Pipe Welding Responsibilities
- Perform code-quality pipe welds in qualified positions, including 6G and small-bore applications when required by the project.
- Perform structural groove, fillet, and plate welds in qualified positions, including 2G, 3G, and 4G when required.
- Interpret and follow WPS requirements for process, filler metal, amperage, polarity, shielding gas, preheat, interpass temperature, and other essential variables.
- Coordinate with Pipe Fitters and Fabricators to verify joint preparation, alignment, root opening, bevel geometry, and cleanliness before welding.
- Support weld maps, material traceability, inspection hold points, nondestructive examination, hydro testing, and turnover documentation as required.
- Use proper techniques to control distortion, heat input, penetration, bead placement, and final weld profile.
- Complete approved weld repairs and rework in coordination with supervision, quality personnel, and inspectors.
- Approach each weld as inspection-critical and capable of being visually examined, tested, or X-rayed.
- Ability to transition between structural and pipe welding assignments based on demonstrated qualifications and project requirements.
