Job Overview:

Permit Opening and Inspection Standing - Licensed Master Plumber

Flexible Contractor Opportunity | $260 Per Permit Opened & Closed | We Handle the Plumbing Work & Customer Coordination

Yellow Dog Plumbing, Heating & Cooling is a growing residential plumbing and HVAC company based in Needham, MA. We’re looking for a Massachusetts Licensed Master Plumber to help us manage the permitting and inspection process for plumbing work completed by our team.

The role is straightforward: we need you to pull our plumbing permits, work with our team to coordinate inspection times, stand the inspections with the local plumbing inspectors, and help us successfully close the permits.

We will make the process as easy as possible for you. Our team will tell you what permit needs to be pulled, what the plumbing work is for, the town where the job is located, and provide the customer and job information you need. From there, you'll handle pulling the permit and standing the inspection, with our team helping coordinate everything along the way.

You will not be responsible for performing the plumbing work. Our Yellow Dog plumbing team handles the actual installation and repair work.

We believe in ALWAYS doing the right thing for the customer - even when that means more work or expense for us. That includes pulling permits whenever they are required and making sure our work is properly inspected and approved.

Compensation is $250 for each permit successfully pulled and closed, plus an additional $10 per completed permit for gas - $260 total per permit.

Why Work With Yellow Dog?

Flexible Additional Income - This is a flexible contractor opportunity that can work particularly well for a retired Master Plumber, someone working part-time, or a Master Plumber looking to supplement their existing income.

$260 Total Per Completed Permit - You'll receive $250 for each permit you pull and successfully close, plus an additional $10 for gas, for a total of $260 per completed permit.

We Make It Easy for You - We'll tell you what permit we need, what the job is for, where it's located, and provide the information you need. Our customer service team will also help coordinate inspection times with our customers.

We Handle the Plumbing Work - You won't be responsible for performing the plumbing installation or repair work. Our Yellow Dog plumbing team performs the work. Your role is focused on permits, inspections, and helping us successfully close them out.

Our Office Helps With Coordination - Our customer service team will work with the homeowner and with you to find an appropriate inspection time. You won't be responsible for chasing customers around trying to schedule appointments.

Work With a Growing Company - Yellow Dog is continuing to grow throughout Greater Boston and MetroWest. We're looking for someone who would like to develop an ongoing relationship with us as our plumbing business grows.

Your Experience Matters - We're specifically looking for an experienced Master Plumber because we want someone who understands plumbing, knows the permitting and inspection process, can communicate effectively with inspectors, and can help us understand exactly what is needed if an inspector has a question or identifies an issue.

Direct Access to the Owner - You'll work with our team and have direct access to company leadership, including the owner/CEO. We value straightforward communication and want this to be an easy and enjoyable relationship for everyone involved.

What You'll Do

Your primary responsibility will be to help Yellow Dog open and successfully close plumbing permits for work completed by our plumbing team.

For each permit, you'll:

  • Pull the required plumbing permit

  • Work with our customer service team to coordinate the date and time of the inspection

  • Stand the inspection and meet with the local plumbing inspector

  • Be available to answer questions from the inspector about the permitted plumbing work

  • Represent Yellow Dog professionally with inspectors, customers, and local building departments

  • Report the results of the inspection back to our team

  • Let us know if the inspector identifies anything that needs to be corrected

  • Help communicate exactly what is required so our plumbing team can address any issues

  • Attend a reinspection when necessary

  • Help make sure the permit is ultimately approved and closed

How the Process Works

We will make this as easy as possible for you.

Our team will tell you:

  • The permit we need pulled

  • What the plumbing work is for

  • The town where the job is located

  • The customer and job information you need to pull the permit

From there, you'll pull the permit.

Once our plumbing work is completed, you'll work with our customer service team to coordinate a convenient time for the inspection. Our team will handle the communication with the customer and help coordinate the scheduling.

You'll then stand the inspection, meet with the local plumbing inspector, and report the results back to us.

If everything passes, you'll help make sure the permit is properly closed. If the inspector identifies something that needs to be corrected, you'll tell us what is required. Our plumbing team will take care of the work, and you'll return for a reinspection if necessary.

We handle the plumbing work, the customer, and much of the coordination. We need you to pull the permit, work with our team to schedule the inspection, stand the inspection, and help us get the permit successfully closed.

Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

  • Holds an active Massachusetts Master Plumber license

  • Has significant real-world residential plumbing knowledge and experience

  • Understands Massachusetts plumbing requirements and the permitting and inspection process

  • Is comfortable communicating directly with local plumbing inspectors

  • Is professional, dependable, and easy to work with

  • Communicates clearly with our office team

  • Shows up on time for scheduled inspections

  • Has a relatively flexible schedule that allows for inspection appointments during normal business hours

  • Has reliable transportation and a good driving record

  • Takes pride in doing things correctly and professionally

  • Wants a flexible opportunity to earn additional income

Retired Master Plumbers are strongly encouraged to apply, provided you maintain an active Massachusetts Master Plumber license. This can also be a great fit for a Master Plumber who already has other work but has the flexibility to take on additional permitting and inspection responsibilities.

How We Work

Our values are straightforward:

Take care of our employees and customers.

Their needs come first.

Excellence in every detail.

How we do the little things is how we do the big things.

Every voice matters.

Employees and customers deserve to be heard and respected.

Be a little better every day.

Learn, improve, and keep moving forward.

Grow with a purpose.

We believe profitable, sustainable growth creates opportunities for everyone on our team.

A Great Opportunity for the Right Master Plumber

We're looking for someone we can develop a long-term working relationship with, not simply someone to pull an occasional permit.

If you're an experienced Massachusetts Licensed Master Plumber who wants flexible additional work without taking on the responsibility of performing the actual plumbing jobs, this could be a great fit.

Our team works hard, enjoys working together, and takes a lot of pride in doing things the right way. Our owner is personally involved in hiring for this position and would be very happy to speak with you directly.

Apply today and let's talk.
