RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily safety inspections on cranes, hoists, tools, and equipment at the start of each shift and throughout the day; document inspections as required. 
  • Prepare fabricated components and finished workpieces for downstream processing or shipment, ensuring cleanliness and quality standards are met. 
  • Operate fabrication prep equipment including plasma tables, machining tools, hydraulic presses, grinders, and deburring tools. 
  • Cut, clean, grind, and debur metal components to meet specifications and quality requirements. 
  • Ability to perform basic fabrication support tasks, including work on tooling, fixtures, and minor repairs, as needed.
  • Conduct hydro-testing, acid foaming, and other finishing or testing processes as assigned. 
  • Safely operate overhead cranes, hoists, and forklifts; complete all required certifications and training. 
  • Inspect work for accuracy and quality; verify dimensions using measuring tools and consult with supervisors or Quality Control when needed. 
  • Complete and maintain all required documentation (production, inspection, testing, and shipping records). 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with housekeeping standards. 
  • Collaborate with team members and assist in training others to support production goals. 
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older. 
  • Experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial environments preferred. 
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and job specifications (preferred). 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and basic math skills (including fractions and decimals). 
  • Proficient in using measuring tools (tape measure, calipers, gauges) and basic hand tools. 
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and work independently with minimal supervision. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. 
  • Ability to meet production deadlines in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Basic computer skills for data entry, tracking, and documentation.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Familiarity with fabrication shop equipment such as plasma cutters, grinders, presses, and machining tools. 
  • Experience with handheld and pneumatic tools. 
  • Understanding of material handling practices and rigging basics (preferred).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. 
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials: 
  • Frequent lifting up to 15 pounds
  • Regular lifting between 15–45 pounds
  • Ability to wear required PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, safety footwear, etc.) for the duration of the shift. 
  • Visual acuity including close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
