SCOPE
The Parts Clerk compiles information and records to draw up purchase orders for procurement of materials and services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Promotes safety and conducts him/herself in accordance with all safety guidelines at all times.
- Prepares purchase orders and sends copies to suppliers and to departments originating requests.
- Determines if inventory quantities are sufficient for needs, ordering more materials when necessary.
- Responds to customer and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Performs buying duties when necessary.
- Contacts suppliers in order to schedule or expedite deliveries and to resolve shortages, missed or late deliveries, and other problems.
- Reviews requisition orders in order to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.
- Prepares, maintains, and reviews purchasing files, reports and price lists.
- Compares prices, specifications, and delivery dates in order to determine the best bid among potential suppliers.
- Tracks the status of requisitions, contracts, and orders.
- Calculates costs of orders, and charges or forwards invoices to appropriate accounts.
- Maintains inventory for all parts.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
- Must possess visual acuity to document company records
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2 years industry experience (preferred)
- Mechanical knowledge or repair experience
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions in English
- Demonstrated attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
- Work well in a team environment and have strong communication skills
- Ability to work extended hours while standing
- Good job performance and attendance records
