Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented
Panel Build Technician
to assemble, wire, and test industrial electrical control panels and electronic subassemblies used in industrial automation systems.
The ideal candidate will have experience reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints while assembling control panels using PLCs, VFDs, relays, breakers, power supplies, and other industrial electrical components. Candidates should take pride in producing high-quality work and enjoy working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assemble and wire industrial electrical control panels from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Mount, install, and connect electrical components including PLCs, relays, contactors, breakers, VFDs, power supplies, terminals, and sensors.
- Cut, strip, crimp, label, bundle, and route wiring according to workmanship standards.
- Perform continuity, functional, and safety testing on completed control panels.
- Inspect completed assemblies for quality, accuracy, and proper labeling.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, layout drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs).
- Utilize hand tools and power tools including drills, wire strippers, crimpers, torque tools, and other assembly equipment.
- Work closely with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve assembly issues.
- Assist with material handling, kitting, receiving, and general shop support as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1–3 years of experience building electrical control panels, industrial wiring, or electrical assembly.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Experience with industrial control components including PLCs, relays, contactors, breakers, VFDs, and terminal blocks.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent attention to detail.
- Comfortable using hand and power tools in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and work on your feet throughout the shift.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of
UL508A,
NEC, or related electrical standards.
- Previous experience in industrial automation, controls manufacturing, or machine building.
- Experience performing electrical testing and troubleshooting of completed control panels.
