About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a Panel Operator for the Thermal Integrated Control Center in Lloydminster. The role involves operating the facility safely and effectively, troubleshooting equipment, and maintaining performance to meet production targets. The Panel Operator will also support maintenance activities, provide training to new employees, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

  • Work schedule is comprised of a 12-hour shift rotating between days/nights including working weekends/stat holidays (7 on/7 off)

What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with DCS Technicians and Process Controls Engineer to resolve control system issues and optimize control loop functionality

  • Support alarm management, alarm rationalization, and all other control room-driven initiatives.

  • Maintain strong communication skills, stay calm under pressure, uphold a polite and friendly attitude while being efficient and helpful, respectfully challenge when necessary, and effectively solve problems and make informed decisions

  • Operate the Facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team

  • Maintain and troubleshoot all Control System issues with a focus on driving solutions to problems, maximizing uptime and Thermal Oil production

  • Perform condition monitoring, as well as panel operations records (e.g., Electronic Logbooks, Production Reporting, Control System Bypasses, flare/vent reporting and any other required reports)

  • Support maintenance activities aligned to the site’s operating philosophy

  • Provide assistance, coaching, on-the-job training, and assessments to new employees as required, as well as comply with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position's responsibilities

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate or significant progress towards completing a 2nd Class certification

  • 5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably with a focus on SAGD operations

  • Experience in the operation of steam generating equipment, control panel, oil processing and/or well equipment and associated process and systems is an asset

  • Solid understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
