Panel Builder (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: West Chicagoland Area
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $20–$25/hour
Employment Type: Contract-to-Hire (6 months)
Start Date: Early February
About the Role
We’re partnered with a well-established, family-owned industrial equipment manufacturer that specializes in rebuilding and customizing packaging machinery.
Due to continued growth, they’re adding a Panel Builder to their shop team supporting rental packaging machines.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone early in their electrical career who wants steady work, a strong team environment, and long-term growth potential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build and wire electrical control panels for packaging machinery
- Mount electrical components such as terminal blocks, relays, power supplies, and drives
- Cut, strip, label, and route wire per electrical schematics and marked-up prints
- Perform basic continuity checks and assist with panel checkout
- Modify or rework existing panels as needed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
Required Experience
- 1+ years of panel wiring, electrical assembly, or industrial electrical experience
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Hands-on wiring and basic troubleshooting experience
- High School Diploma or GED
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with electrical components, wiring, and circuitry
- Knowledge of NEC, UL, or other electrical/safety standards
- Experience with packaging machinery or OEM equipment builds
- Experience with panel retrofits or upgrades
