Summary:

Primary responsibilities include assembly, wiring, and troubleshooting of industrial control panels

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Build panels and related components from electrical and layout prints
  • Perform panel layout tasks (drilling, cutting holes, pulling wires, etc.)
  • Wire panels from schematic and layout drawings
  • Mount terminal blocks, devices, and enclosures per layout
  • Perform basic soldering and termination
  • Use tape measure accurately within 1/16” tolerance
  • Safely operate overhead cranes and rigging equipment
  • Laser engrave standard legend plates and tags
  • Communicate drawing and BOM discrepancies with Electrical Engineering
  • Communicate warehouse, material, and parts discrepancies with Material Handler
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills and/or abilities:

 

Knowledge-

  1. LEAN Principles
  2. Basic knowledge of electrical schematics
  3. Understanding of AC vs. DC, and single vs. three-phase systems
  4. Electrical safety practices

 

Skills-

  1. Ability to use and read a tape measure within 1/16” tolerance
  2. Correct use of basic power and hand tools
  3. Ability to read fractions accurately
  4. Basic soldering
  5. Basic computer skills for accessing documentation and labels
  6. Safe operation of overhead crane and rigging equipment
  7. Basic drilling and tapping
  8. Ability to safely operate label engraving equipment
  9. Accurately locate centerline positions
  10. Laser engrave standard legend plates and tags
  11. Wire from prints, lace into terminals and panels with no assistance
  12. Ability to obtain and maintain forklift certification

  7. Communicates well with peers, supervisor, customers, vendors, and other departments
  8. Actively participates in 6S and other Continuous Improvement (CI) efforts

 

Education and/or Experience:   

  1. High School Diploma or GED required
  2. 1+ years of experience in electrical or panel assembly preferred

Knowledge-

  1. LEAN Principles
  2. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of electrical schematics
  3. Basic knowledge of ANSI/ISO and IEC codes and symbols
  4. Familiarity with UL, CSA, NEC, and some CE codes

Skills-

  1. Ability to use and read a tape measure within 1/16” tolerance
  2. Correct use of basic power and hand tools
  3. Advanced print and schematic reading
  4. Skilled in layout and assembly of complex panels
  5. Ability to wire and terminate with minimal supervision
  6. Capable of identifying components from BOMs
  7. Experience using engraving tools and wire identification systems
  8. Familiar with drilling, tapping, measuring, and assembly techniques
