Job Summary and Job Functions

  • Applying paint and other coatings manually and with spray applicators.
  • Spraying multiple types of finishes, paints, and coatings to various materials
  • Sanding and smoothing the item in preparation for finishing.
  • Understanding specifications of the project and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, and following written instructions.
  • Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been completed properly.
  • Working with glues and bonding materials.
  • Cutting and assembling materials to specifications.
  • Using power tools and hand tools to cut and prepare materials for assembly.
  • Follows all safety standards and procedures.
  • Keeping shop and work area clean and organized.
  • Works with a sense of urgency to meet short deadlines without compromising quality.

Requirements

  • Experience in commercial, residential or auto body repair and finish work preferred but not required
  • Experience with PPG or Matthews paint mixing systems strongly considered
  • Familiarity with a variety of paint finish techniques on diverse substrates
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical documents and drawings
  • Computer savvy with basic understanding of computer programming
  • Mechanical aptitude and good math skills
  • A keen eye for color detail and results-driven approach
  • Outstanding written, email and oral communication

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Able to lift up to 50-70 pounds unassisted
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Feeling. Perceiving attributes of objects, such as size, shape, temperature or texture by touching with skin, particularly that of fingertips.
  • Visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • Subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
  • Talking. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Atmospheric conditions. One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system of the skin: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
