Paint Shop Operator

Position Summary

Our client is seeking a Paint Shop Operator to support the finishing of large-scale, moderate to complex CNC-milled machined parts with precise tolerances and surface finish requirements. This role is responsible for cleaning, deburring, polishing, finishing, and painting parts weighing up to 80 tons and measuring up to 30 meters in length. The Paint Shop Operator must demonstrate strong attention to detail and sound machining practices while working safely in a heavy industrial environment. This role reports to the Department Supervisor within Manufacturing Engineering Services (MES).

Key Responsibilities

• Support welding, machining, and assembly operations.
• Set up large workpieces using overhead cranes, fixtures, and rigging in accordance with safety standards.
• Load, verify, and finish process parts.
• Operate large grit blasting machines.
• Use spray paint guns to prime and finish coat machine components.
• Deburr machined parts both mechanically and manually.
• Clean parts for final shipment and assembly.
• Maintain safe work practices and adhere to all company safety policies.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Ability to drill, tap, and perform machining operations.
• Ability to work off shifts and possibly some weekends, as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. daily.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb, and work in a heavy industrial environment for extended periods.
• Ability to safely work around large machinery and overhead cranes.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3-5 years of industrial shop experience on large or heavy equipment.
• Proficiency reading and interpreting blueprints, routings, and GD&T.

Education

• High school diploma or GED required.

Compensation & Benefits

• $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
