Job Overview:

The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for supervising all packaging department activities on a daily basis. This position supervises the production, quality, and warehousing of product in a manner consistent with company service and cost objectives.

Essential Job Duties

  • Ability to work second shift hours from 2:30 pm – 1:30 am

  • Flexibility to work Saturdays as required

  • Responsible for daily planning and team huddle to communicate production schedule

  • Responsible for Packing Dept setup in the morning of each production day.

    • Set up may include setting up materials needed for the day.
  • Lead and coach employees to be aligned with company goals and objectives

  • Keep track of team key metrics (throughput, efficiency and quality)

  • Maintain effective communication with employees, supervisors, production manager, manufacturing support manager and quality department

  • Monitor product quality from raw materials to packaging materials.

  • Constant communication with quality personnel and line operators

  • Direct and train personnel on safety procedures involving specific job duties as well as general plant safety guidelines

  • Coordinate with Maintenance Lead/Supervisor to ready machinery for scheduled requirements

  • Coordinate with Maintenance Supervisor to ready machinery for scheduled requirements

  • Be responsible for pre-op and post sanitation

  • Manage employee relations within the team, employee performance reviews and the discipline process

  • Check and approve employees’ hours for payroll

  • Responsible for Employee related matters in the production dept.

  • Communicate with Purchasing on inventory items

  • Enter information to MC system daily

  • Communicate company policy and procedures

  • Ensure all crew members follow HACCP and GMP practices

  • Report any food safety and quality problem to personnel with authority to initiate action

  • In the absence of Packing Supervisor, Production Manager will cover his/her responsibilities.

Qualifications

& Experience

  • Two years+ experience as a supervisor in Food Manufacturing

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Bilingual in Spanish is preferred.

  • Experience with Food and Beverage industry preferred

  • Experience sanitizing food processing equipment preferred

Sanitation

  • Oversee the sanitation process within the Packing department.

**Work Environment **

  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel and bend for virtually entire shift.

  • Occasionally required to balance or climb.

  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Must be willing to work in a wet environment.
