POSITION PURPOSE:
The primary responsibility of the Business Development Manager is to be the face of Forpak towards its
most strategic prospects and customers, and to build trusted advisor status so that we can sell, design,
build, and implement solutions to their most complex automation needs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
Prospecting and relationship development
• Research, develop, and maintain target list of prospects in assigned industry/ geography with
a focus on bakery.
• Gain access to prospects through variety of contact methods (calls, emails, in-person visits)
• Attend key events and conferences to further build contact network
• Build relationships through regular, value-added contacts and interactions to capture
component manufacturing spend at target customers
Opportunity identification and value-selling
• Identify opportunities for Forpak to fulfill a prospect’s complex automation needs
• Qualify and respond to both self-generated and marketing-generated opportunities
• Act as the face of Forpak in initial discussions, providing an overview of the company’s
capabilities
• Secure a chance to quote by effectively presenting Forpak’s value proposition
• Properly involve other resources in the organization for the best chance of success in finding
and winning opportunities
• Update CRM and participate in the company’s sales management system
Quarterback the Sales and RFQ process for new customers
• Act as the primary point of contact for the customer throughout the customer lifecycle, but
during the quoting process ensure the Forpak estimators have the right information and
knowledge to quote accurately and rapidly
• Communicate any issues or concerns proactively with the customer, particularly as it relates
to lead time, price, or other set expectations working with the internal team
• Deliver quote and secure the business in collaboration with the internal team
Negotiate to close and ensure smooth hand off projects to internal team
• Sell $3M+ annually of automation equipment/projects across the Forpak offering
• Work with Forpak leadership to negotiate longer-term commercial agreements
• Ensure smooth handoff to design and operations team, staying abreast of the project.
Key Performance Areas/Metrics
• Sales = $4M+ annual automation longer-term commercial agreements
• Quotes + Identify and support formal quoting of $10M+ opportunities within our ideal
customer profile annually
Travel Needs
• Work remotely with a target of 3-4 customer visits per month.
