Overhead Crane Operator – Steel Industry

Location: Nashville, TN

Full-Time

We are hiring an experienced Overhead Crane Operator for a steel/material-handling environment. This position is responsible for safely moving steel products and materials throughout the facility using an overhead/bridge crane. The ideal candidate will have previous crane experience in a steel, metal fabrication, manufacturing, or heavy industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate overhead/bridge cranes to move steel and other heavy materials throughout the facility.
• Load, unload, stage, and position material safely and accurately.
• Use chains, slings, hooks, and other rigging equipment to secure loads.
• Inspect crane and rigging equipment before use and report safety or maintenance concerns.
• Follow load limits, safety procedures, and proper material-handling practices.
• Assist with organizing and staging steel for production or shipment.
• Communicate with coworkers and ground personnel while moving loads.
• Perform general material-handling and warehouse duties as needed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.

Qualifications

• Previous overhead crane experience required.
• Experience working with steel, sheet metal, structural steel, coils, plate, or other heavy materials strongly preferred.
• Previous rigging experience preferred.
• Ability to safely judge load size, weight, clearance, and positioning.
• Comfortable working in an industrial/manufacturing environment.
• Ability to lift, bend, stand, and perform physical work throughout the shift.
• Strong attention to safety and detail.
• Forklift experience is a plus.
