Perform a variety of skilled mechanical duties involving deck machinery, engine room work, general dock, rudders, shafting, propeller work, and testing
Able to carry personal tool bag weighing up to 50 lbs.
Able to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes and grades.
Able to physically perform essential job duties with or without accommodations.
Able to wear appropriate protective equipment, including respirator.
Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facility machinery
Work with rudders, shafts, propellers and deck machinery
Repair ship components using blueprints, sketches and sample parts
Perform valve and pump repair and overhaul
Use knowledge of equipment operation for assembly, installation and testing
High School Diploma or GED
Read, write and comprehend simple instructions
Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral or diagram form
Able to calculate and understand units of measure, including fractions and decimals
Know how to measure using a scale and tape measure
Read, understand, and interpret advanced blueprints to preform task required
Use of measuring devices (rulers, micrometers, dial indicators, depth mics, scales, etc.), hand tools, and power tools
Ability to read and interpret blueprints
Able to wear appropriate protective gear
Able to physically perform essential job duties with or without accommodations
Able to work at heights, in confined spaces and have the ability to climb staircases and ladders of varying sizes
Trained in all annual NAVSEA Standard Items
Able to obtain DBIDS credential/Government clearance to enter US Navy Vessels.
