In this role you will be responsible for design activities, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, trade studies, layouts, preliminary solid modeling, analyses and mass properties, development of solid models in conjunction with the performance of all necessary analyses for these designs including materials evaluations, propulsion, and flight mechanics assessments. Support will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, design for long term operations and maintenance, and development planning activities.
Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the initiation system, separation, and mechanism ordnance components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include:
• Ordnance Subsystem Integration
• Lead the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of ordnance components
• Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components
• Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support ordnance components
• Independently develop and provide design solutions, of varying complexity, using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products.
• Independently review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
• Support production meetings and manufacturing & test anomaly/discrepancy resolution
• Evaluate, select, and own the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected hardware supplier
• Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review.

Basic Qualifications
• Experience with 1st order analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics, heat transfer/ thermal, and/or chemistry.
• Knowledge of Requirement development and management
• Experience with mechanical CAD modeling in CREO or equivalent
• Solid understanding of mechanical and ordnance engineering principals
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance
Desired skills
• Experience with Ordnance system integration of separation, ignition, and initiation components
• Understanding of ordnance chemical compounds
• Ordnance handling, installation and test experience
• Ordnance safety experience
• Experience executing Trade Studies
• Knowledge of Geometric Design and Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Hands on Hardware experience
• User of CREO CAD software
• Experience developing Proposal documents and Basis of Estimates (BOE’s)
• Additive manufacturing experience
• Familiar with design for Manufacturability (DFM)
• Experience with supply chain management and subcontracts
• Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
• Experience as a product owner, from development to high rate production
• Willingness to mentor junior engineers.
• Experience with Q-Notes
• Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution.

Ability to work remotely
Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

Premium Pay Statement

For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate’s final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
