- Develop, run, and adjust CNC programs based on drawings, specifications, and machining parameters.
- Center optical components to print, maintaining dimensional accuracy and concentricity requirements.
- Monitor machine performance and make real-time adjustments to maintain process control.
- Perform in-process and final inspection using appropriate metrology tools (e.g., micrometers, comparators, gauges).
- Verify component geometry, alignment, and surface condition in accordance with specifications.
- Identify and isolate nonconforming material and coordinate with quality and engineering as needed.
- Document production and inspection results in accordance with internal procedures.
- Support process development, tooling setup, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Maintain equipment, tooling, and work area in proper operating condition.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Experience working in manufacturing, machining, assembly, or other hands-on technical environments involving precision work, mechanical processes, or detailed inspection activities.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn CNC and conventional machining processes within a precision manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, technical drawings, specifications, and documented procedures.
- Comfortable using basic measurement and inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, or comparators.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain consistent quality and follow established processes.
- Ability to identify process issues, communicate concerns, and work effectively with production, quality, and engineering teams.
- Prior experience with optical fabrication, centering operations, CNC machining, or precision machining equipment is beneficial but not required.
- Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement environments is a plus.
