Job Overview:

The Brass Tumbler Operator is responsible for using a tumbler machine to finish metal parts. They will operate a variety of tumbler machines, with the main responsibilities having to load and unload the components, making sure the components match the job orders once processed, and quality is acceptable for the next procedure.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES

  • Responsible for loading metal parts and tumbling media into the tumblers barrel or drum.
  • Operate tumbling machines in the Metal Conditioning department.
  • Monitor the inventory and speed of machines during the tumbling process.
  • Monitor and maintain media levels and quality.
  • Operate multiple tumbler machines concurrently.
  • Monitor and review information from materials, to detect or assess problems.
  • Inspect equipment, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects
  • Perform routine cleaning of the equipment.
  • Report any issues or concerns that might arise from the components or machine processes.
  • Keep production data recorded daily as accurate as possible
  • Handling of waste and following correct disposal process for hazardous waste.
  • Required to adhere to all safety protocols and housekeeping protocols.
  • Additional duties as required

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Educations and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required
  • 1 year demonstrated experience working in a similar environment

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to communicate and work cooperatively with others
  • Ability to follow work instructions and processes
  • Ability to learn new processes and adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Effective verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of conducting test and inspections of products, processes to evaluate quality
  • Ability to distinguish sounds in a loud work environment.
  • Ability to multitask and have attention to detail.

Language Skills

  • English (reading, writing, verbal)
  • Spanish is a plus

Mathematical Skills

  • Basic math skills (add, subtract)

Other Skills

  • Ability to work all shifts, including weekends and holiday hours.
  • Ability to legally work without sponsorship for employment visa status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (only provide if needed)

  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate all the basic machine tools.
  • Align and secure dividers that go into the barrels and add media onto machines.
  • Experience working with brass alloys.
  • Ability to identify non-conforming items and provide corrective action

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will have occasional bending, squatting, climbing, and twisting. There will be occasional usage of his/her hands to power grasp and manipulate objects, tools or controls, and occasional pushing, pulling and reaching above the shoulders. The position requires frequent walking and standing, as well as repetitive usage of hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, and reaching below shoulder level. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and frequently lift up to 35 pounds with or without assistance. Required to wear PPE (ie. Face, foot, eye, hand, and/or hearing protection on plant floor). Additionally, this position requires visual acuity at a normal reading distance.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work in a manufacturing warehouse environment. The ambient conditions are moderate, and the noise level in the work environment is noisy. Working in manufacturing environment which includes, dust, fumes, cold, and heat, humidity from the wet process.
