Function as part of a team, together as an Operator in Training in Packaging, you will help to ensure that the quality and quantity of packaged goods conforms to company’ standards. Initiate starting up and shutting down machines, handling lockout operations, and ensuring sanitation of the packaging equipment that you are responsible for.

  • High School Degree or GED equivalent.

Position Details

  • Department: Production
  • Direct Report: Production Supervisor
  • FLSA Status: Non-Exempt.
  • Hours: 1st and 2nd Shift (overnight) hours are available. 10-hour shifts.
  • Schedule: Monday-Thursday, OPTIONAL Fridays/Saturdays. Voluntary overtime at time and a half.
  • Wage: $15.50/hr, PLUS $1.00/hr shift differential if working on 2nd Shift.

Essential Functions


  • Prepare, operate and clean packaging equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to PPE requirements and safety practices.
  • Operate packaging and material handling equipment in a safe and efficient manner to meet production standards.
  • Safe use of equipment: various packaging line equipment, pallet jacks, lift equipment, inspection table, and labeling equipment, with special attention to all pinch-points.
  • Communicate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Understanding Basic Packaging Principles (placing bottles, caps, and empty cartons on the line & verifying code legibility and accuracy while packaging bottles into cartons and shippers).
  • Inspect bottles prior to placing into cartons.
  • Operate shrink film sealer when required.
  • Inspect cartons prior to placement into master shipper.
  • Set-up and operate the case packer.
  • Inspect master shipper label and place product onto pallets per approved configurations.
  • Clean equipment, room, and accessories.
  • Perform lot reconciliations with a level II or III present.
  • Assist with In-process Inspection with a level II or III present.
  • Inspect tablets and capsules on an as-needed basis.

Physical Requirements

Working Conditions on the Production Floor:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced light manufacturing environment.
  • PPE requirements: safety glasses, respiratory protection, company supplied lab coats, and gloves.
  • GMP gowning requirements: Hair net, beard guard (if applicable), shoe covers, and sweatbands as required.
  • Factory attire.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent lifting / carrying (10-50 lbs.).
  • Frequent pushing / pulling (50-300 lbs) and frequent bending and stooping.
  • Frequent handling / gripping (parts, tools, etc.).
