Job Overview:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Warehouse Lead reports to the Warehouse Supervisor and is based out of our Hendersonville, North Carolina location. This individual will be responsible for leading and directing the entire shift of the warehouse operation on the day-to-day activities with a focus on production support and customer service. Must be able to problem solve and determine priority levels for the day’s work assignments and determine what will be completed and by whom, including coverage for call-outs, absences, and vacations.

 


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (essential functions of the job)

Responsibilities include:

  • Key duties include:
    • Check in the driver, load the truck with the use of BOL, using the FIFO method, complete the load, print the BOL, and sign out the driver
    • Load, unload, and pre-stage finished goods and ingredient loads
  • Lead by example and direct others in the clean-as-you-go program
  • Conduct daily walk through of the area and communicate findings to warehouse employees in their designated area
  • Provide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work area
  • Coordinate the clean-up of any findings during the walk-through and communicate gaps to other shifts and departments
  • Ensure product rotation is occurring by setting expectations and leading by example with the forklift drivers on shipping out the oldest product first
  • Audit shippers to see if the oldest product was pulled and coach employees when there is a gap
  • Maintain good quality of the product produced as it pertains to rotation, correct tagging of product and ensuring the product is not damaged in the warehouse
  • Perform audits on tagging locations to verify tags were completed correctly on each line
  • Follow-up on rotation in shipping to ensure the oldest product was sent and place any old age product on hold to prevent old products from being shipped

 

Responsibilities include partnering with the Warehouse Supervisor to: 

  • Communicate all shortages to the Sales Service Coordinator and Warehouse Supervisor
  • Lead and direct the entire shift of the warehouse operation on the day-to-day activities. 
  • Key duties include:
    • Estimating daily work assignments and prioritizing the work depending on the flow of work, time constraints, and manpower
    • Follow up on assignments to ensure they are completed to satisfactory levels
  • Train new employees that are hired in the work area assigned
  • Advanced knowledge of the field
  • Lead by example and assist others who may need guidance
  • Be accessible for employees to ask questions regarding areas of expertise
  • Provide positive recognition to employees who exhibit good behavior in their work area
  • Provide feedback to managers on individual and team performance
  • Accountable for food safety, food quality, and regulatory requirements for their position
  • Encouraged to notify management about actual or potential food safety issues
  • Adopt and maintain all SQF requirements for their position
  • Empowerment to work with supervision to resolve food safety and food quality issues within their scope of work
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

Minimum Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certification
  • One-year warehousing experience

 

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the food/beverage industry
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented; ability to multi-task
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills, including the ability to understand and estimate daily work assignments and prioritize the work depending on the flow of work, time constraints, and manpower.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field.

 

FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.

 

OCCASIONAL: squatting, kneeling, reach above and at shoulder height, moderate grasp to manipulate reference books and manuals; lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs. from below waist to above shoulders and transporting distances up to 50 feet.

 

VISION: Ability to see in the normal visual range with or without correction.

 

HEARING: Ability to hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
