The following position is to join our RTX Research Center (RTRC) Optimization and Control Technologies discipline:
What you will do
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with broad expertise in robotics, inspection, software, machine learning and optimization to apply and extend the state of the art. The candidate is expected to work on transitioning novel concepts from early technology stages to a state that impacts and influences businesses and applications.
The responsibilities include:
Lead technology maturation for advanced inspection algorithms and capabilities for both business and government customers, including AI-assisted defect detection, advanced signal processing, high-precision alignment and calibration of multi-robot systems, and machine learning
Lead validation, demonstration, and transition of autonomy capabilities as part of both government-funded and company-funded R&D programs, including rapid prototype deployment and demonstration on hardware platforms
Provide technology development roadmap that support business operations teams, including manufacturing, quality and field support organizations.
Lead and supporting externally and internally sponsored programs, writing external and internal research proposals;
Build relationships to support developing business relationships with industry, academia, and government agencies;
Disseminating research results through reports, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed articles, and developing intellectual property.
Communicate with a broad range of stakeholders, both technical and non-technical, and manage tech transition efforts with the business unit and government customers.
Qualifications you must have:
Ph.D. degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field with 10+ years of experience post degree
10+ years of experience in software engineering, or data engineering
U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.
Autonomous systems expertise, from high-level algorithms to software implementation, including industry experience
The candidate will have solid skills in the following areas:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) and/or Machine Learning (ML) for defect detection from imaging systems
Industrial automation experience, with a track record of delivering functional systems
Software development, testing and validation background
Qualifications We Prefer:
Experience with one or more of these is desirable:
Experience with writing proposals for Gov’t funded research, record of grants
Real-time image/signal processing and Software/Hardware-in-the-Loop testing
Experience with 3D rendering pipelines such as trimesh, OpenGL, etc.
Software life-cycle management experience
Proficient in multiple programming languages, e.g., Python, Java, C++
Proficient in working with container frameworks such as Docker and Kubernetes,
Experience in applying CI/CD frameworks such as GitLab, Jenkins, GitHub

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
