Summary (Major Purpose of the Role):

As Operations Manager, you will play a key role in managing the day-to-day Operations at a local Distribution Center including but not limited to shipping, receiving, inventory control.  Oversees all distribution activities and ensures agreed service levels are met for customers. Responsible for ensuring infrastructure, processes and organization are continuously developed to support requirements. Continually optimizes DC to improve cost, productivity, service, and talent. The Operations Manager will ensure that all orders are processed within the company set metrics and will report directly to the Director of Operations. 

 

 

Main Activities/Responsibilities:

  • Management of the Quality Management System and ISO certification expectations
  • Provide support and leadership to distribution center staff
  • Develop and improve warehouse processes
  • Strive for continuous improvement following the Lean principles
  • Ensure the compliance with national and company Health & Safety regulations 
  • Organize and supervise the functions of assigned areas 
  • Collaborate to optimize the storage space and material flow using warehousing practicing - proper warehouse space utilization, slotting, and inventory management
  • Ensure stock integrity in compliance with rules set by Inventory Control
  • Develop and Implement Distribution Best Practices
  • Engage, manage and drive accountability to direct reporting staff
  • Develop people through appropriate training, performance reviews and structured succession plans as appropriate 
  • Ensure recruitment of non-exempt and exempt personnel for approved positions
  • Have a customer focused approach to distribution quality and service
  • Report on all associated metrics and ensure meeting exceeding in all areas
  • Ensure and control quality and performance of suppliers, who contribute to the warehouse performance (suppliers of packaging material, temporary labor etc)
  • Manage communication with the customer service organization to ensure focusing on improving service and quality
  • Ensure employee development and morale is a key focus
  • Ensure the compliance of SOP’s
  • Fully understand and manage overall distribution spend
  • Participate in various projects as advised by the direct Manager
  • Identify and advise pro-actively on strategic development needs (operation / infrastructure / automation)
  • Identify and develop detailed concepts for operational improvements
  • Ensure continuous improvement process using Lean applications/tools
  • Review assigned operational areas daily to ensure the distribution center is neat and well organized and that damage to product, equipment and facility is prevented
  • Ensure that all safety procedures and policies are followed
  • Drive employee engagement consistent with company values

Reporting Relationships and Supervision:

  • Engage, manage and drive accountability to direct reporting staff
  • Develop people through appropriate training, performance reviews and structured succession plans as appropriate
  • Distribution Supervisors of assigned area will report directly into this job role, all other associates will report indirectly into this job role


 Education and Experience:

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 5 to 10 years related experience
  • Extensive experience in a leading warehouse management
  • Experience in warehouse setup and design (product slotting, pick path optimization, engineering standards)
  • Experience in people Management
  • Experience with customer and vendor engagement
  • Extensive knowledge in SAP or equivalent warehouse management systems
  • Master’s Degree within Logistics/Engineering/Business Management preferred
  • Preferred Certification in Lean/Six Sigma

 

Your Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Physical activity includes walking, standing, bending, squatting, reaching above shoulders and lifting up to 50 lbs or engaging the two person lift if the lbs are more than 50lbs.
     
     
  • Performs activities in a warehouse environment. May be subject to changes in temperature and exposure to dust.

Pursuant to California Labor Code § 432.3, Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare provides the following pay scale for this position. The salary range for this role is from $88, 240 to $110,300  per year. Actual compensation may vary depending on factors such as the applicant’s experience, specialization, and education, as well as the company’s requirements. The stated range does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits which may be offered to the applicant, if eligible under the company’s policies.
